Emily Said:

For Someone Going To College To Pursue a Career In Pediatrics, what would they major in?

We Answered:

First, it's MCAT, no K.
Second, anyone trying to get into med school should take a pre-med minor in addition to whatever major they choose. This will include all the necessary bio, physics, and chemistry classes. As far as what major to choose, that's completely up to what you like. Nursing isn't really a great choice because the course load is very specific to nurses, and you should probably steer clear of any major that requires very specific courses or required clinical or off-site experiences (i.e teaching). Of course, going into majors such as bio, chem, physics, or psychology are the most typical, but I know people in med school with english, music, and athletic training (my major). You just need to focus on studies and learn the practical information that will be heavily tested in the MCAT and in med school.
