Medical Career Guide

Eugene Said:

I am High School Student an i want to go for Medical can any one guide me?

We Answered:

The first thing that you need to do is research. Research for the medical schools that are accredited in the medical field AND are affordable. These are very important things. Cause if you don't go to an accredited school, you are basically wasting your time and you don't want to be in debt for the rest of your life. Because once you stop going to school, undergraduate or graduate, after that 6 months grace period, they are coming for blood and you don't want to get bad credit because of your inability to pay back those loans...TRUST ME!!!!! Believe it or not there are a lot of good city and state schools that will give you an A1 education without putting you in financial ruins Go online or go in the library and start looking. Once you got a list of these schools check for out their curriculum and the prerequisites of the classes that you need. Most schools will require that you take biology, chemistry and Trig or Calculus 1, Physics, English 1 and English 2, English Literature, History 1 and 2, Sociology...etc...you get the point. Make sure you know exactly what classes that you need..cause you can be an A student, but if you didn't take the classes the school asks for...it would be all for nothing. Okay, now that you know what school you are heading to and know what classes to take, you have to do your best and get A's. If you can't get all A's, get mostly A's and high B's. Remember this is an highly competitive field and you will be competing with the best students from all over the country...so you have to be on your A game...Do whatever you have to do to get those A grades; tutoring, extra help from the teacher, anything. And always remember this, always do your best because in the end that effort would be seen by teachers and when they see that, they will help you to achieve your goals. Now once you get into the college of your liking, you are going to have to do the process all over again for medical school. Check out the schools that are affordable and accredited. Find out their curriculum so you are on the right track for taking all of the courses you need to have, then get your A's. And everything that you did to be that good overall student for college is the same thing you have to do to be that Great overall student for medical school. Also do a lot of networking. Let your grades and your overall nice demenor speak volumes. Somewhere in your second year of medical school, you should decide what specialty you would want to go into. It helps so you can start detailing your medical school experience to fit the pre-reqs of that specialization.

Now that was the academic part of what you need to do..but just as important, you need to have a balance of extracurricular activities in your transcript on all levels of your schooling (college, medical, internship and externship). Whatever is your talent, your strength, do it in school. Join the forensics (debate) team, play an instrument in a band, become involved in student government, join the dance squad. These things may seen inconsequential but really they show schools that you are an overall excellent student. One who is not only book smart, but sociable and can adapt in any school or life situation. I hope this help you on your journey to going to medical school and becoming a doctor.

Help with college class decisions for future medical career!?

We Answered:

You can go anywhere that offers pre-med classes (a 4 year university) to do your undergrad. Although you seem set on a medical school, look into the pre-reqs there and always have a few backup schools. If you want, you can go straight on to Mizzou and do your 4 years there as well. In fact, you might be better prepared for med school at a larger university like that. Just keep a high GPA, score well on your MCAT, and you should get into med school just fine. Like I said, unless you don't have the grades or GPA/SAT to go straight to Mizzou, I would just go straight on there. Also, for med school always try to stay in state- much cheaper!

i am confused regarding my career after 12 guide me is it worth toin medical college with heavy donation?

We Answered:

Medical Sceince is a tough descipline. You will be playing with the lives of human being. If you have the caliber face the entrance tests why to give heavy donation. I am from medical proffession. I feel pity of my proffessional colleques who have become doctors not by choice and practicing like licenced killers & butchers.

my brother has completed 10+2 in medicalstream. he wants his career in medical, what should be theright choice

We Answered:

Then he should opt for BDS (dentist course) or MBBS. MBBS is the best. To do these course he should sit into some medical entrance examinations. Medical entrance examination is conducted in All Over India by CBSE-AIPMT and can also apply to many states medical entrance examinations. There is a very bright career in Medical and my best wishes is with your brother.

Best of Luck.

I want to be a surgeon or a MD or something else in the Medical career?

We Answered:

I agree with Youngleen here; you can read physiology or chemistry texts on your own and as a result, associate BOREDOM with these beautiful subjects. It is an instructor who can make them come alive for you.

Best thing is to get some practical experience, volunteering at a hospital to see what all the members of the healthcare team do and see what area you like; do you see yourself amongst them in a few years?

Only then, will you get an idea of how you might prepare yourself for their careers. Have to narrow the field a bit, first! Good luck,
