Hospice is a wonderful and fulfilling job. It seems that you are very mature and want to do the BEST for your family !
That"s good cause Hospice can be difficult to handle @ times.
I started off as an ER nurse, then Home health, then Hospice and Hospice is my FAVORITE by FAR !!
I don't like Home Health. Its mostly doing dressing changes and wound care. Its pretty disgusting to me! I can handle pretty much EVERYTHING (i.e. vomit, diarrhea, blood, urine) but NOT dressing changes ! They usually stink and sometimes become necrotic !
You have to have a BIG heart to do Hospice and you never really get "used to" your pts dying but sometimes you have to sortof separate yourself from it.
In CA, Hospice RN's make $31-38/ hr to start and then you get raises 1-2 x a year.
May I suggest a company... VITAS Innovative Hospice Care. Best benefits, best pay, BEST Hospice around !!

It's hard to say. I don't live near there so I can't speak from experience. I will tell you that most Sonography students end up getting hired at one of the places they do clinical rotations at - it is basically a working interview for you every day that you are at clinical. It's also who you know - so a lot of jobs never even get posted to the public, they just get filled on a recommendation.Worst case scenario is you may have to commute to work for the first year or two and then find a job closer to home once you have some experience.

Don't know if it is scam or not, but place to look for federal jobs is USAjobs. It is the official listing for jobs within federal government
