Medical Careers College

Viola Said:

What are some medical careers you can have with just 4 years of college?

We Answered:

Medical careers do not always require a four year degree many can be achieved with less than four years. Nursing requires either a two year degree or a four year degree. However a four year degree in nursing will open opportunities for management and nurse practitioner roles. Respiratory Therapist, X-Ray Technician, several lab roles, LPN, CNA, paramedic, are just a few that require less than four years of school.

The main thing you need to remember with health careers they are a 24 - 7 / 365 days a year job. Meaning most health careers will require weekend work, working on holidays, and may also require you to work overnight. In return you get training and fairly good pay.

Are there any good medical careers where I can make good money with only four years of college?

We Answered:

This web site will give you a good overview of the process of becoming a physician: http://people.howstuffworks.com/becoming…

If you aren't prepared to pursue that type of career, nursing is a good option; however, you don't have to do four years in college to become a nurse. Every state has a nurse association that advises how to become a nurse in your state. Simply Google (Your state's name) Nurse Association.

There are many high paying medical careers that are non-physician. This site might give you some good ideas: http://www.medical-career-schools.com/

Isaac Said:

If I take a medical careers class in High School, will be hard to get into a college to become a doctor?

We Answered:

Taking the class itself won't affect your chances of getting into college. Taking it instead of a required science class might. Most colleges require 3 years of lab science, and expect 4 if you intend to go into premed. But you need a 4-year college degree to apply to medical school, and they don't ask for your high school transcripts - it won't affect that decision.
