Medical Transcription in Canada?We Answered:
i have my own transcription business and it is a good way to make a living ... i work from home, my time is flexible ... i type sitting on my sofa :O) any course will be fine to take ... when you finish your course you should get a job with an online company and be sure to get a canadian company as the american ones are a total rip off ... like one i applied to in california, if you missed any word you did not get paid for the entire report no matter how long it was ... that is a rip off ... working for an online company you will not make as much money as you would if you worked for yourself but it truly takes 6 months on the job to become a competent medical transcriptionist ... i started my own business in 2004 and now i have three other transcriptionists who type for me and i get a cut of whatever they type ... i started my own company by doing a mail out of a flier and a coupon for 10% off first job and i had business cards made into magnets and included in the mail out envelopes ... i probably spent around 600 dollars on the mail out but it got my business started ... now i only do digital, no printing or anything like that and i charge 25 dollar per hour for a one week turnaround and more if they want it faster ... focus groups i charge a lot more because to transcribe a room full of people talking is really hard and time consuming ... it is very easy to get jobs in this field as it is very specialized ... most people think a transcriptionist is a fast typist but that is not the case ... we have to know medical terminology from every discipline which can take years to build up that knowledge ... when i first started out it was slow and i also worked at a hospital health records department but i got so i had enough clients to make it on my own ... i love not being cooped up with people for 8 hours a day only to fight traffic to get home, get things done, only to go to bed and do the same thing the next day ... my days are different and varied, i can get things done during the day during the week with less crowds ... if i have a busy day planned i can just type at night ... the flexibility is great ... good luck :O)Lewis Said:
Should I pursue a career in physics in Canada? We Answered:
Expect to make 60,000 - 120,000 as a physicist. You'll probably need a PhD to do the kind of physics you're talking about. It will take about 10 years of college to get to that point. It's a lot of work - maybe not as much as being a doctor, but probably more than engineering - and it takes longer than either. Really, we don't go into it for the money, we do it because that's what we want to do.Linda Said:
Which are the best universities in North America(U.S. & Canada) for a medical career? We Answered:
It's not the cost of tuition/living expenses that you need to worry about so much as it's the amount of debt you'll have at the end of school. Some of the expensive private schools give students a lot more opportunities to earn money or get grants/scholarships. Based on your criteria, Stanford seems like the best school. Excellent program but not much debt in the end.Dale Said:
How to do get into harvard medical school if you are from Canada? We Answered:
Well you don't need to be american to go to Harvard, but you need to take the SAT Reasoning Test and the MCAT (Medical College Admissionn Test). Study hard for them! High SAT can be very good for you.Well Harvard doesnt look at just your marks, they look at potential, extra-curricular activities, volunteer, and see what makes someone stnad out from the rest of the "crowd" for example most people take pre-med in undergrad to get into med school that would probably be about at least 75% of all med school entrees, you want to stand out from that crowd! Take philosophy, some changeling, its also a good idea to plan the chance that you wont get accepted or that you wont be able to graduate (Many people quit)
2nd they look at family history, your history all the way back to elementary if they wish. If they think you might be the one, they ask for an interview, now practice for this because this matters alot, fail this you will never get into Harvard.
Overall, you need to volunteer at hospitals, clinics, etc.. have amazing marks in science, math and english courses in undergrad, and high school, and it actually takes alot of dedication and effort!

I can't decide where to work as a police officer in Canada or to leave Canada and need career advice.?We Answered:
Apply in Toronto, there is Toronto Police, York Regional Police, Durham Regional Police, Peel Regional Police and the Ontario Provincial Police. You can get your ATS testing done and apply to all of the above agencies as well as ones further away (Waterloo, Hamiltion, Kingston, Barrie etc.)
Toronto would be your best bet as you can join special units after 3 years. Remember your first year is all training anyway, so really it's only two years.
DO NOT go to the US!!!!!!
They don't pay their Officers there nearly enough and when you find out that Canadian Police Officers are making twice as much money, you'll find out that US qualifications are not accepted in Canada and if you want to return you'll have to start from scratch.
Come to Toronto, there is a lot more to chose from.
