Medical Careers In The Navy

Connie Said:

30 year old that wants to join navy and get degree. How long will this take?

We Answered:

if you have absolutely no college credits coming in, you will NOT get a 4 year degree while in your first term of enlistment. MAYBE a 2 year degree.

Military obligations take precedence at all times. you will NOT be allowed to take any college credits during Boot camp and A school, although depending on the A school you can earn credits at some schools. TA only covers 16 credits per year..about a total of one semester/five classes. you can test out of some classes, but in no way will any college or university allow you to test out of anything but the basics.

Once you hit the Fleet, your ship's OPTEMPO will determine how difficult ro easy it will be to take any college courses.

Army Medevac as civilian flight paramedic?

We Answered:

With the proper amount of experience, the only thing I would think you would need would be to take the state certification. Once you earn your paramedic, it is in the national registry. One thing I don't understand is that if you are about to get a degree...why not go in as an officer?

Michael Said:

Someone that knows Navy?

We Answered:

unless you are looking to go in as a Nurse( commissioned officer with a BSN) as a female your chances of getting HM is zero right now. it is closed to females at least through 2010.

Stephen Said:

I need some advice on starting up a career in the navy...?

We Answered:

Good question....About a zillion different answers. You first need to sit down and figure out what you want to do with your life and go from there. Beyond just "join the Navy".....Do you want to learn a language, work on aircraft, work on nuclear subs???? Only you can answer! I'd start by making a list of what I wouldn't want to do and go from there. Also, if you want to be an officer, do not enlist. Go ROTC and let them pay for your college. You'll be treated better and have better job choices.....Pilot, NFO, SWO, Intel Officer etc. etc.

Which branch has medical jobs available?

We Answered:

Navy HM will be nearly impossible being Female.

getting HM will be hard enough, let alone being abel to get any C schools.

additionally, if you are job locked. no recruiter will work with you. recruiters need to fill the MILITARY'S needs, not your desires
