Medical Careers Institute

Has anyone had any issues with Medical Careers Institute?

We Answered:

Depending on what career field you wish to study, I would check the professional association for that profession to find out what schools are approved by the association for that profession. I.e., if you want to be a medical transcriptionist, you would check the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI, formerly known as AAMT) site.

Does anybody know about Medical Careers Institute in Chicago?

We Answered:

If it isn't accredited, DON'T DO IT! In order to get licensed, you have to graduate from an accredited program. If you go through a non-accredited program, you will have to work for a year before you will be eligible to take the national exam, but the problem is finding an employer that will hire someone who isn't licensed... so how will you work for a year if no one will hire you??

Medical careers institute?

We Answered:

I don't personally know about the school, but the website looks like one of those private, for-profit expensive schools. It could be a much more affordable education to instead look into the county vo-tech school(s) or local community college(s) if even non-credit course. Please note that there are not supposed to be too many jobs for the medical assistant or medical biller and coder despite what schools may claim :)

I would call the campus center that you want to go to.
I;m sure they would be more than happy to tell you how much tuition costs would be.

Should I go to Medical Careers Institute or TCC?

We Answered:

FYI, when it comes time to do your clinicals, you can't pick and choose when to do it. I was in school 40 hours per week for the entire 2 years.

To choose between the two, I would ask them what their ARRT-registry pass rate is... the higher the better. If they put out students who can't pass the registry, they aren't a good school.

Email me for more info.

medical careers institute... any opinions?

We Answered:

Make sure any nursing school you enroll in is ANA recognized. Many AS programs do not meet the ANA certifications to be full RNs or LPNs. Check with a hospital before starting a college.

I recommend that for anyone wanting to start a career. Ask those that will higher you later, what they want now, don't take anyone else's word for it. Especially if the college tells you, they are a business after all. They want your money.
