Is an assistance dog or therapy dog part of the medical field career? We Answered:
Are you asking if that is an area you can major in? The short answer is no.Therapy dogs are sometimes used in medical centers, hospitals, and nursing homes, but they are not considered part of the medical career field itself.
You can have your dog certified to be a therapy dog, but you have to go through specific training, fill out an application, and have your vet sign off on a form (it also indicates your dog is up-to-date on shots, vaccines, and is healthy) once per year. You have to mail the form in by a certain date, or else you have to re-take the test. Additionally, you need to accumulate a certain amount of hours for your therapy dog certification to stay current. You can only visit certain places by specific permission, and you would have to contact the director or whomever is in charge to determine a mutually convenient schedule to bring a therapy dog.
Assistance dogs are different: they assist elderly persons, people with disabilities, or individuals with health impairments. They usually trained and sponsored through different organizations. They are service dogs and are not pets.

What career should I choose in the medical field? We Answered:
Basically depends on your interests and how long you want to stay in school. It also depends on how much contact you want with your patients and what type. Does blood, puke, pee, poop, bile, etc. make you sick? That will affect your decision too.For maximum hands on care, you could be a nurse. They have one year LPN programs, two year RN programs, four year RN programs. You could also get your Master's degree and become a practitioner. There are tons of different fields(forensic, mental health, geriatric, pediatric, etc),but you will have to deal with bodily fluids and work your way up. You have a better shot at administrative positions as an RN, but working your way up typically still applies.
For medium hands on care, some type of therapists or therapist assistant is good (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy). Being an assistant is usually two years of college, being the therapist is four. This is a rewarding job and very a very good choice if poop makes you want to puke.
If you want to go whole, hog there is always getting your MD. Don't know too much about that except crazy hours as an intern and mad crazy college bills. Not too much hands on care though, the MD usually gets the nurse to do procedures and clean up poo.
Some other things to keep in mind is that any medical program will be competitive to get in to. There is usually a test you have to take before you can even be considered (Nursing is the NET test). Medical programs are tough so you better be ready. There is also usually a waiting list, so bear that in mind.
Radiology and Pharmacology are also good choices. There are lots of options out there, so get out on the WWW and do some research to see what appeals to you most.
I hope this gives you a better idea of what you might like to try. The money is good but the work is very challenging. Good luck!

What is the best career in the medical field that has the least amount of patient contact? We Answered:
Medical lab techs work in hospitals but have no patient contact. If you like science and solving problems, it could be a choice for you. The diagnoses that doctors make rely greatly on the tests that MLTs carry out.Dispatchers get paid really well for their education level and never contact patients, except maybe on the phone. You really help people though because you guide them through the first moments of an emergency. To get into dispatch, it's often helpful to get your EMT-B.
Medical secretaries, medical researchers, prosthetists... etc etc there's plenty of jobs in the medical field that are "behind the scenes"
