Medical Illustration Career
Helen Said:
how many medical illustrators are there in US currently? We Answered:
I don't know the number, but the job prospects with this career are good. If you are good at illustration and anatomy/biology, you have a pretty good chance. It helps to have good grades too, because since it isn't a very large field they only let really good students into the medical school programs.Even if you can't find a job in the field, graduating with an illustration bachelor's (which is usually required before getting your master) can still help you find illustration jobs in other fields.

Going after Medical illustration ? ?We Answered:
This job requires a masters and a very few schools offer this-it covers anatomy etc & art. This is not a common job; you would have to look very hard to find employment; once you found something, I assume it would pay well,. Computers have done away with many of these labor-intensive positions.Jackie Said:

Does anyone know information about Scientific Illustration? We Answered:
I have an interest in the same area. The University of Washington has a scientific illustration program. Many of its courses are focused on plants and animals, anatomy, movement, and the different drawing styles. Good luck...maybe I will see you there!Crystal Said:
Contemplating careers- really interested in illustration, but put off by the competitiveness and uncertainty? We Answered:
Sorry can only answer parts of this. If you go for computer based illustration or animation then where you live does not matter, you can work freelance from home. Start part time.Any art based job is going to be competitive and difficult to break into unless you have exceptional luck or talent. Stability is an illusion no jobs are truly stable these days.
Ask yourself were your talents are strong, not what's most in demand. Get a copy of 'The Writers Handbook'. It lists publishers etc who commission all kinds of artwork.
