You are right. Medical Imaging has a lot of options. And here's the trick - they don't all come from the same origin. Radiography can start you down a path that can lead you to be a Xray tech, CT tech, Nuclear medicine, or about 10 other possibilities in various different specialties.
Ultrasound is its own direction, giving you access to lots of areas of specialization.
There are various levels of schooling required for each, but two years is a good start. As time goes on, regulations are getting toughing and the amount of schooling longer. Don't expect this trend to change, which means if you get into this field, you can expect demand for your services to increase as will your pay!
