Medical Informatics Career

Norma Said:

help needed in my further career.... please read. REALLY IMPORTANT?

We Answered:

Sometimes good advice hurts--at least at first.
Here it is: Have more consideration for your readers/listeners. if you want people to pay attention to you and answer your question(s), show them consideration by making them shorter.

Thomas Jefferson is often quoted as the source for a statement he put at the end of a letter he had written:

"If I had more time, this letter would have been shorter."

Message: Take the time to organize and edit your thoughts and don't just spew them out.

Hope this helps you down the line.

What's a great alternate career for someone who took up Nursing in college?

We Answered:

I agree with you, nursing is not for everyone. How about Health informatics?

Jamie Said:

Are these Health Care careers the same? (10 POINTS)?

We Answered:

Medical informatics is the intersection of information science, computer science, and health care. It deals with the resources, devices, and methods required to optimize the acquisition, storage, retrieval, and use of information in health and bio-medicine. Health informatics tools include not only computers but also clinical guidelines, formal medical terminologies, and information and communication systems. It is applied to the areas of nursing, clinical care, dentistry, pharmacy, public health and (bio)medical research.

So yes it is all the same! Health informatics is the category and Medical, Biomedical are branches in the category. Every branch uses the same tools to provide the safe and effective delivery of medical care, virtually all clinical staff use a number of Health Informatics Tools in their day-to-day operations. The need for standardization and refined development of these tools is underscored by the HITECH act and other efforts to develop electronic medical records

Hope this is helpful it is a very progressive field with a lot of growth expected after the HITECH approvals go through. Good Luck
