Medical Management Careers

Ivan Said:

careers in the health information management profession in which effective medical terminology is essential?

We Answered:

Most careers in health information management require a good working knowledge of medical terminology.
Transcription - so you can hear and understand the terminology being dictated, and spell it correctly.
Coding - So that you can understand the diagnoses, procedures, and treatment history in order to assign correct codes.
Tumor Registry - demands an extensive knowledge of medical terminology as well as oncology terms for all aspects of the job.
However, some entry level positions (like file clerk or release of information clerk) do not require such a grasp of medical terminology.

I'm not sure exactly what kind of information you were wanting since your question was rather vague, but I hope this answers it.

Anna Said:

Which would be a better career hotel management or medical office assistant?

We Answered:

Depends on your own opinion of better. MA's probably have a better job outlook, but make very little money. You also have to look at the downsides of each job. An example, hotel managers will deal with angry guests all day expecting free hand outs. =)

Robert Said:

Is medical degree harder to obtain than a financial management degree? and whats a good university for both?

We Answered:

Well, UG and medical school take 8 years. A degree in finance can be 4 years or 6 years if you go later for an MBA. There is a HUGE difference between the two careers, so you definitely need more research. You need a lot of math for both of them, though.

Marsha Said:

What is the career outlook for someone in medical management?

We Answered:

Strong if you've got the skills. Industry is growing and diversity expanding. It's wide open if you've got the communication skills. Many don't.
