Medical Researcher Career

Russell Said:

What is the difference between a chemist(USA), medical researcher, and a pharmaceutical scientist?

We Answered:

they all are the same thing

I think it's possible with a lower degree

science majors like biochem/chem

Heidi Said:

Guys, I need a little advice. My ultimate goal is to become a medical researcher and help find cures.?

We Answered:

your looking down the wrong field

for straight "curing diseases" there is no one degree that will lead you to it, but the best one so far is called "biomedical science". i was doing it for a while but i decided id rather curse disease with drugs as opposed to say a "cure" thus i tranfered to chemistry.

it all depends on what type of medical reserch you want to do .

also you can either go bachelor ----> masters----> PHD or
bachelor ---> honors ------> PHD

neither really are better but at the same time having a PHD doesn't mean your going to be finding a cure for diseases as a job

Randy Said:

What is the difference between a genetic engineer and a medical researcher?

We Answered:

A genetic engineer is a specific type of medical researcher. Medical research goes far beyond the field of genetics; I do medical research about bacterial infections in the body. Pretty much every science and engineering degree can be applied to medical research. So pick your favorite field of science and study that.

Pedro Said:

What is the difference between medical research and biomedical laboratory research?

We Answered:

Biomedical laboratory research is a subcategory of medical research. Medical research encompasses all types of research involving medical issues, including field work, clinical settings, survey analysis, statistical study of computerized medical databases, development of optimal treatment protocols, and many other research areas.

Biomedical laboratory research is a domain of medical research wherein the preponderance of work is performed in a laboratory setting. Nevertheless, it is a very broad field, which includes endocrinology, rheumatology, genetics, immunology, pharmacology, and many subspecialties of medicine. A Laboratory Technician or Laboratory Technologist can readily find careers in biomedical laboratory research, especially if they have a major or advanced degree in biology, chemistry, or biophysics. Masters degrees, PhDs, or an M.D. in any field of medicine, biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or psychology should provide many opportunities in medical research, as well as biomedical laboratory research.
