Go for it! I was in the similar situation and I quit and I dont regret it! Change is good once in a while...for a while...then maybe you can go back! With your experience, anyone will hire you! Do what YOU WANT to do! You'll thank yourself later!

Information and Opinions about Exec. and/or Medical Secretary/Assistant?

We Answered:

I'm going to go the other route and say Administrative Assistant. I have been one for a long time and it is a very rewarding career. Being an admin is virtually recession proof, as your skills transfer into practically any industry.

As far as salary goes, depending on where you live, you can expect to start out making $10-$13/hour. If you apply for major corporations, they tend to pay higher than small businesses or 'mom and pop' places. Plus there are more opportunities for advancement.

An Executive Assistant is someone who supports top Executives in a company, usually Directors, Vice Presidents, all the way up to a CEO. Again, depending on where you are located in the US and what type of company you work for, Executive Assistants make very good money, sometimes even six figures. Keep in mind these positions are very competitive and you really need experience and to stand out. But it's a great job and I definitely encourage it as a goal. If you do, consider going on to get your Bachelor's Degree, something along the lines of Business Management. That will help you along the way.

Good luck to you! This is an exciting time in your life and you have the whole world open to you. Keep your options open and learn as much as you can, because you never know...you might change your mind! :)
