Medical Transcriptionist Career

Mario Said:

I am interested in a career as a medical transcriptionist? I want to try for a job in the U.S.?

We Answered:

I doubt that anyone will hire you. Your MT skills are not unique - they can be easily obtained by any American in America, and therefore you would not likely qualify for a work visa.

However as a pharmaceutical specialist, you might have better luck. Try applying for pharmaceutical positions.

Beatrice Said:

which school is better penn foster or us career instatute for medical transcriptionist?

We Answered:

Whatever you do, DO NOT enroll with Penn Foster. I did, and I'm sorry that I wasted that much money. They take forever to update their online database, forever to send you the shipments, and they charge you an arm and a leg for the very same thing you can learn by going to your local library. Go for the US Career Institute if you want something worthwhile

Frank Said:

I'm looking into becoming a medical transcriptionist is this a good career choice?

We Answered:

I am currently enrolled in Career Step and I love it. The course is very explanitory and easy to follow. They also have company's looking to hire CS's graduates once they complete the course. They have an online forum where you can have questions answered, look up info, etc, etc. I love all the support and encouragement you recieve in the forum. It is all self paced. Some people finish in 3 months, other a year. It all depends on how much time you have to put into it. Anyways, if you have any other questions please feel free to e-mail me!
Hope this helped...

how in-demand is the medical transcriptionist career specifically right now? I havent heard much of it but..?

We Answered:

I was a home based transcriptionist for 13 years. The industry is changing, and some transcriptionists are finding that they are becoming editors of machine-processed dictation. There is an article about this in the newsletter that's provided below.

Troy Said:

Which is a better career becoming a RN or a Medical Transcriptionist?

We Answered:

The answer here could fill pages. If you love people and medicine RN is for you. Incredibly rewarding from both a personal point of view but also a large difference in pay.
Transcribing is just a job.
