Kirk Said:

What is the best route to take to become a Navy physician?

We Answered:

The surest way would be to apply for an internship as a Navy doctor upon your graduation from Medical School. Other things being equal the Navy is like any other organization and will try to save money, they would always be willing to get a doctor for whose training they don't have to pay as opposed to one for whose they do.

Mike Said:

i am finishing up a five year contract in the Marine Corps and i want to get into a medical career in the Navy

We Answered:

You could request a direct transfer to the Navy Hospital Corps before your Marine enlistment is up. There has been a law to permit that for over sixty years. Then you could apply for doctoral level training at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. But, you would need to get a bachelor's degree in some pre-med discipline before that.

Wallace Said:

Can you be a medical corps as an E-1 just entering the navy?

We Answered:

As an enlisted member of the Navy you cannot be a member of the Medical Corps.

In the military in the US the Medical Corps is for physicians only. The Navy Medical Department is made up of many Corps including the Dental Corps, the Medical Corps the Nurse Corps. You are probably looking at being a Hospital Corpsman or Dental Technician. There are several subspecialties which fall under the Hospital Corps. Se your recruiter for more information.
