Will I get into and succeed at Drexel University? We Answered:
honestly speaking your chances don't look very good. i actually just got accepted to drexel university. From what i've heard from an engineering student at drexel is that it is really competitive. so if you do get it you will need to work extremely hard. engineering is a tough field, and i have heard that a great number of students fail or drop out of the engineering program because of its rigor. good luck. and hope you get in and work really hard.Fred Said:
The Case of Chris Benoit? We Answered:
Geez, I wonder if this is a anti-sports propaganda piece?(It's sports fault, and NO! NO! It possibly couldn't be the steroids. It's sports fault)I would be interested to see how they would be able to determine Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy compared to other forms of Encephalopathy and how they determined their control group.
I could hypothesize the answers to these questions considering the one statement in the article "CTE is BELIEVED to afflict..." When did Beliefs become Science?
And 4 Football players, is an extremely small % of the many who had played between those years(14 years)... and I think the general population would see the same(actually probably higher) percentage of dementia.
Also, Encephalopathy is becoming common in illnesses with unknown epidemiologies(although I'm not saying CTE is incorrect, but just wondering "How is that determined, as opposed to".). And from what I understand, there is many things that can cause Encephalopathy as we age, naturally(illness, toxins, other injuries, ...).
Edit: Super Ruper... my answer was not directed at you, but who wrote the article. And I gave my view of the article itself. You're asking people to give their opinion based on the assumption that this article is fact, when it specifically states that it 'Believes'... although, I do give credit that it's an educational belief... but still. And again, 4 football players out of many, is not statistically relevant. And yes, wrestling(this type... not real grappling/wrestling) is more of a show, than a sport. Again, it appears that the article itself, may be against sports, especially when they're throwing out variables like steroids.... that's just silly.
Aside from this article...yes, it's safe to assume injury is possible in sports, in general(like many other employments). I think it's pretty much assumed that injury is possible in sports(it's apparent, as much as driving a car could cause an accident/injury). With it being so apparent, I think it's the players responsibility to understand common concepts. Is it the car company's fault that you got into an accident, because you didn't have enough intelligence to realize that an accident was possible?
Again, not directed at you, but responding to the article.

It sounds good, but is it an accredited school? Some companies may frown upon ones that are not recognized.Clyde Said:

Comments regarding the diagnostic medical sonographer course frm Professional Career Institute (PCI) college? We Answered:
I am not familiar with PCI, but it is not listed on the CAAHEP site as being an accredited program.....I wouldn't go to a program that is not accredited. When thinking about entering an ultrasound program, you need not be concerned so much about certificate vs. degree. What is important is that you go to an ACCREDITED program, whether it is college or hospital based. An accredited program allows you to take your registry (licensing) exams upon graduation. Once you get licensed, you will never be asked about your schooling again. An employer does not care what route you take to get licensed, they just want you to have that license....specifically ARDMS licensing.
Don't waste your time or money on a NON-accredited program. Upon completion and graduation from a NON-accredited program, you must work in the field of sonography for a full year prior to taking your licensing examinations. But, you will have a hard time finding an employer to hire you, unless you are licensed.
I would suggest you observe an imaging department to get an idea of what ultrasonographers do daily. There is much more to it than scanning pregnant women. Most people have no idea how much is involved in this career! This would also give you an opportunity to ask those in the field about hiring someone who is not ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) registered.
You can find a list of accredited schools in your area, by searching "diagnostic medical sonography" and your state at the following site. There are links provided for each program, which will give you additional information (including course duration and prerequisite courses):

Many people, myself included, go to school to become a radiologic technologist, before continuing to ultrasound school. In fact, it can be difficult to get into u/s school without the RT license. There are many more choices for schools for x-ray in most states. You can find them here, by searching “radiography“ and your state:
http://www.jrcert.org/cert/Search.jsp
The pay for ultrasound technologists will vary, depending on experience and geographical location. The American Society of Radiologic Technologists just did a large salary survey, in 2007. You can see how much a RT and/or ultrasound technologist averaged, per year, in your state here:
