Salaries For Medical Careers

Bernice Said:

Which would be the best medical career to go for?

We Answered:

First of all, tease out the pediatrician, as that is a major change from the other careers. That is a MD--do you wish to go to medical school? That is 4 years after a bachelors, and a 3 year residency. This is by far the hardest one, but also the highest paid, out of your list. It is also the most stressful, and the most expensive to achieve (med school is around $200,000.00); but it is the one at the top of the pyramid, so to speak. For most people who want to be docs, this is not just a career decision but also a lifestyle decision, and a love.

As for the rest, physical therapy is extremely rewarding; but requires quite a bit of schooling now. You can work independently, in your clinic if you wish, or in a hospital, or in sports med etc. They can make a very good salary. Sonography is more constrained and most work in the hospital. Nursing also has wide opportunities, makes good money, but it can be a physically grueling career. You must love nursing & all that encompasses (the mess, the heartache, the rewards).

Look at each one objectively & see which one fits with what you like to do the best, and how you would loke to see your life go.

Junior Year in highschool, looking for medical career with good pay.?

We Answered:

The health field is completely full of careers that offer good pay and even better job outlooks. You could become several different things within a 4-6 year time frame: occupational therapist, physical therapist, recreational therapist, language pathologist, physician assistant, registered nurse, and maybe even a dietitian. Really, your options are endless.

Good Medical Career with just a Bachelor's Degree?

We Answered:

You can be a nurse anesthetist. You have to be in a Master's program. Other than that, there aren't really any medical degrees you can get into with just a bachelors making the amount that you want in salary. Other degrees you might want to consider.

Director of Nursing- over $100,000
Head Nurse- $90,000
Nurse Practioner( I believe this might have to have master degree as well) - $70-$80,000
RN nurses make anywhere from $60-70k a year.

Now when you get into physiology they may make $100k a year.
