We Answered:

My suggestions, in school study Journalism and business, that will open different doors for you when you graduate, a good field would be news reporter

Pearl Said:

A bunch of AP courses or Medical Careers program? Help!?

We Answered:

I think the AP classes would be more beneficial, because it will look better on a college application. I think your mum is right about the medical careers program being for people who plan on going straight into the career and it seems pointless when you will learn all that stuff at med school anyway later on.

Doris Said:

what are some good paying medical careers?

We Answered:

Well you could become a CNA [certified nursing assistant], my program took about 10 wks to complete when I did this. You can do that through a community college or even some nursing homes will train you as one [though you do not receive college credit through this avenue]. After completing your program, you must take the state board test to receive certification.

Or if you're not adverse to attending community college for 2 years, you could easily go for an Associate's Degree in Nursing and become a registered nurse, which is a good-paying, stable medical career. That's what I did myself.

Melissa Said:

I want to work in the medical field. community college or technical school?

We Answered:

Community college offers several advantages. It is usually cheaper than technical school or university. The instruction is usually very good, with teachers focused on teaching at a level students can understand and use. And schedules can be flexible. A technical school offers some of those advantages as well, and in addition sometimes has a job placement service which will help you get a position in your chosen field. But technical schools can be more expensive, and sometimes they do not offer associate's degrees, which can lead to more advanced education, and sometimes they do not carry an accreditation recognized by other schools in the area, so their credits do not transfer. You would be wise to visit the community college and talk to someone in admissions or counseling to find out what your choices are there. If you try it for a semester or two and you do not like it, the technical school will still be available, and you will not have spent a lot of money.
