Lubbock. I still have post traumatic Stress. Actually I lived in Levelland for two years but I worked in Lubbuck. MY in laws still live there in a rural area on the outskirts out past East 4th street.

What do you want to know? How the when the oil wells were capped people lost jobs in record numbers? Or How NAFTA devastated the area in the 90's and the closing of Reese Airforce base made it worse. It is an area that has high unemployment. Methamphetamine use is high. It is run By Biker gang the Hells Angels don't dare take on. Identity theft and hot check writing are rife in the West texas Area.

It is like a death pall to drive past the boarded up windows in storefronts and wonder to my self how families get along there.

Every spring it is tornado season and every Cotton harvest time no one can breathe. The dust storms are always fun. If it was bad enough I could sit in my house, with all of my doors and windows closed and still taste the dust in my mouth. You can see the storms coming your way as it is the South Plains. Dust storms are a reddish brown.

During Tornado Season, you watch the Doppler radar and storm warnings. Tornado weather appears in black.


Maybe things have gotten better since I left but I never believe the media or internet postings. When I left in 1999. there was a near 1 in four people unemployed. But trust me, the devastation Lubbock went through is not magically fixed in the space of ten years.

I always tell anyone, if there is a hells half acre on Gods Green Earth it is in West Texas.

yes. mostly true according to McCain himself. he also has said it was his greatest moral failing.

after being apart for over 5 years they both changed and didn't feel the same.
