Top Careers Medical Field

Tracy Said:

I'm interested in the medical field (i'm 17)?

We Answered:

Before getting into any medical field, think and consider about this to yourself.

Step 1) Determine if you are willing, and have the resources, to go to college. Many different medical related jobs require some level of schooling, whether you want to become an EMT, paramedic, nurse, doctor, or surgeon, you will have to go to school. You should expect anywhere from a month of schooling to become an EMT-Basic, up to eight or more years to become a doctor, and over 12 years to become a surgeon. Of course you will earn a higher salary for the more schooling you get, but they're all things to think about.

Step 2) Try to narrow down which medical fields you are interested in and then job-shadow someone working in that particular field. If you are interested in becoming a paramedic, try to locate a local paramedic station and lineup a job-shadow experience. Almost any medical field will allow for someone to job-shadow. There will likely be some things that you won't be able to see or participate in, although it will certainly shed some more light on what it would be like to work in one of these fields.

Step 3) Talk with friends and family, express your thoughts and desires, and get feedback. It is a huge decision to determine which field you want to begin a career in, and sometimes it can be helpful to hear what others have to think. Many times your friends or family will reassure you that you are making a great decision, which will make you feel more confident. After consulting with your friends and family, keep in mind that the decision is ultimately yours to make.

Step 4) If you have determined a career in the medical field may be right for you, pursue your dreams and do not quit until you are satisfied. You may choose to slowly work your up in the medical friend, which is just fine. Just make sure you take the first step and begin schooling, and you will be off to an exciting new chapter in your life.

Are there any legit Medical Transcription Jobs Available?

We Answered:

Create a postcard or sales letter and mail it out to the local area describing data entry services. In the U.S., you can mail to commissioned folks like real estate agents, mortgage loan officers, insurance agents and such who might need to have all of their past customers and current prospects entered into a database so they can send out mailings or emails to keep in touch and stir up more business. In fact, any business person or company that would benefit from a database of their customer names, addresses,,. and other information is a good candidate for your data entry services.

Female ARMY recruit here......?

We Answered:

how long you signing for?

you can always re-enlist but the army will want to keep you in a critical field if you've been trained there. however, you can reclass.

women get hurt if they are out of shape or clumsy, seen both cases. few get hurt in combat too but its rare nowadays. army life for women is not bad. the army is not a democracy, we are not all treated the same.

you will get treated better and your sergeants will jump through flaming hoops for you to make sure you are okay. a few female sgts. will however give you a hard time because you are a female, but ive seen females get out of article 15's by crying. now, for a guy, that is much harder to pull off.

so yeah, injuries happen, its a hazarduous environment. one ssg shot her lieutenant in the foot because she did not know how to clear her weapon, 22 surgeries later the guy opted to have his leg amputated.

a guy discharged a Mark and wounded a female downrange.

chances are you will not regret this. the army is a job like any other; you deal with the same bs but maybe its better than in the civilian world. right now, THERE ARE NO JOBS, so what choice do you have really? try to get a job on the outside with a record, when people with master's degrees are waiting tables.

your score is good. i recommend the nursing field, go 68w no sec clearance required and then after 1 yr put in for m6 which is lpn or the linguist part. intelligence will be HARD for you to get.

good luck; if you hate it, get pregnant and you can get out. chances are very high you will get married to a soldier right away, the incentives are there, so you always have that option trust me...

Janet Said:

Can someone who knows about the Culinary field give me information on pursuing a career as a Chef?

We Answered:

I started working in restaurants at the age of 12, before child labor laws were so strictly enforced. I was earning adult wages, washing dishes on weekends, to give my aunt two days off from her job. Washing dishes, and busing tables is entry level for restaurants. I learned a lot from the owner and cooks at the restaurant I worked at.

Prep cooking is a natural step up from dishwasher. I cut the end of my thumb off more than once slicing tomatoes. The job of Chef or Cook in a restaurant involves more than just an eduction in a culinary school. It requires a general knowledge of how a kitchen operates.

Go for your culinary school, and in the mean time, learn how the kitchen in a restaurant operates. Get a job. Wash dishes, bus tables, greet customers learn to operate a cash register. Learn a proper table setting. Observe methods and operations, including ordering of supplies, and scheduling of employees for busy times.

Being a head chef is a management position. It includes knowledge of all areas in the restaurant operation. The head chef doesn't just make great food, and plate it in an appetizing way. The head chef does the ordering, the hiring and firing of the kitchen staff, the scheduling often for the entire restaurant. Most training done in any top notch restaurant is overseen by the manager, (head chef)

Start now, gathering the information you will need to fill that position, and count culinary school as one stop along the path.

Home economics, (for the experience in planning meals and ordering supplies)
Art (for the experience in making a plate of food appear appetizing)
Social studies (for the ability to recognize trends in peoples eating habits, and provide what they want)
Foreign Languages, (so you can fluently converse with kitchen staff who don't speak English)
Mathematics (So you will recognize the reasoning behind food costs, and labor costs in percentages of sales)
English and public speaking (you need very good communication skills to keep your staff happy and working together.)

Andre Said:

Best medical career for me?

We Answered:

You have a severely skewed view of surgery. If you're afraid of needles, why do you want to work in the medical field because if you're license allows you to use them you're going to have to use them. In Radiology you'll have to inject contrast. In surgery, you will have to start IV lines occasionally, deliver numbing medications like lidocaine from time to time. Then if you're looking to be a surgeon, in residency you'll be working about 100 hours a week, 80 if you're lucky. I'm a nursing student and I'm on the floor more than 50 hours a week. What you're looking for really doesn't quite exist in the medical field. I'm not saying don't go into it, but you need to do quite a bit more research so you know what you're getting yourself into because right now you have no idea.
