ok questions on a medical career.?

We Answered:

1. In high school, ask your counselor for an anatomy and physiology class.
2. I've heard that Northwestern University has one of the best medical programs in the country.
3. Depends what field you are going to... for instance
Cardiology- study of the cardiovascular system- have to use catheters (specialized tubes) and so forth.
Neurology-study of the brain- special scanning equipment
You have to be able to work with people and have good social skills.
4. (answered above)
5. Have to be sterile, sharp equipment ( if surgeon), high priced instruments ( not musical), people who are ill etc.
6. no clue
7. Depending.. you could start at about 75,000/year when being an intern and then ranging to about 500,000/year.. and maybe over a million. ( depends what field you are going into)

hopefully this helps

Laurie Said:

Would it be career suicide for me to go to an average ranking medical school?

We Answered:

Your professor is wrong. A lot of people who have never been to medical school perpetuate a lot of myths about medical school.

A medical school is like Basic Training in the military. Everybody does the same thing in Basic Training and they don't begin to specialize until they go to Technical School. It's the same thing in medicine. Everybody learns the same thing in medical school and they don't begin to specialize until they do their Residency Training.

Nobody in medicine cares where you go to medical school. Your medical school carries no weight in determining what residency program you get into and it's where you do your residency that is important. I use Emergency Medicine as an example because it is what I can address with authority. The two best residencies for EM are at UCLA and University of Maryland. Although Harvard and Johns Hopkins have EM residencies, you'll get better offers if you do your residency at UCLA or UoM.

The old axiom is that the best medical school is the one that accepts you. Given that as an obvious, your smartest move is to apply to the schools with the lowest cost to you. I paid less than $16,000 a semester for the same education provided by schools that charge $50,000 a semester. If paying an exorbitant amount of tuition would have given me an advantage of getting the residency I wanted, I would have paid it. But it doesn't and I knew that going in. Residency programs select people based on their USMLE scores, their GPA in medical school and the recommendations from clinical instructors and school administrators. Here's an insider tip: schedule your last Clinical Rotations at the hospital where you want to do your residency. If they like you, you can bypass the Match program altogether.

nurse anesthetist career questions..need help :)?

We Answered:

1. Get a BSN in nursing, get a few years of work experience, then apply for a CRNA masters program.

2. It really doesn't matter - you'll get paid the same no matter where you went, so a school in your area is fine.

3. Look up a local nursing program - they'll give you a list.

4, 5, 6 - see above.

7. Hospitals.

8. http://www.salary.com

9. If you want to travel, you can become a traveling nurse. But most do not.

10. Try looking that up. 11. This one too.
