Top Medical Careers

Claude Said:

What are the top rated Medical Transcription schools in the US?

We Answered:

If you plan to take courses and stay in your state, it's best to take them at a community college. Also, the future of this profession doesn't have a really good outlook. Doctors are being pressured to go to automated dictation, which means they have machines that they talk into and it transcribes itself.(kind of like VOIP.)
If you look on a site like careerbuilder and just type in medical transcription, there really aren't that many jobs around the country.
Also, they really don't pay more than about 14.00 an hour after three years experience or more.
I would go into diagnostic imaging or healthcare administration. It pays more and seems like it has a better future.

Are there any medical careers that require 6 total years, rather than 8-10?

We Answered:

With a BS in Biology, you can apply to a Physician Assistant program. It's a Masters level, so that would be around a total of the 6 you are looking for.

Can You Go Through Medical School In The Evenings / Weekends In The Chicago Area?

We Answered:

i would think no. you are right that most medical career paths such as genetic engineering, cancer research, etc. require a lot of time and independent research. in order to have those kind of careers you would most likely need to get a Phd. that takes many many years full time and would take triple that amount in weekends/evenings if that's even possible. no offense but its been awhile since you've been in school and it takes a lot of recent work to even be accepted to a program like that. the SAT, ACT, GMAT is trivial compared to the MCAT you would need. if you want to pursue these career possibilities you would need to apply yourself full time - maybe even more. your best bet would be to contact a local medical school or college and ask them. good luck to you. i think its great you are that ambitious. hopefully something will work out for you.

What Jobs pay as high as medical careers?

We Answered:

Successful contractors make a lot of money. For instance I am a floor covering contractor who makes well over 100k. Plumbers and electricians who are contractors can easily make that or more. Added bonus, no school debt; instead, they pay you to learn! You can learn your trade in the union, then become a sub-contractor. Remember, you must be among the best to make the big money! I love working for myself...
