What Medical Career Is Right For Me

Brett Said:

I need help deciding a career?

We Answered:

Probably none if you dont like blood and if you plan on going to a community college. PA programs require bachelors degrees before apply as do MD programs. Community College have nursing programs but remember you will be dealing with body fluids where ever you decide to work...
Perhaps a Radiology Tech Job would be a suggestion... Or possibly getting a psychology degree and go into therapy.

April Said:

Question about university degrees? Anyone with experience with university training please help!?

We Answered:

Associates = 2 year degree
Bachelors = 4 year degree OR associates + 2 years
Masters = bachelors + 2-3 years
PhD = bachelors + masters + 2-6 years

You don't need an associates to get a masters. This is for the US; other countries have different lengths for the degree. In the US, you can get honors without an extra year. You'd get an MD to practice medicine, not a PhD - a PhD is a research degree.

Adam Said:

Is Nursing a right career for a person who is diabetic?

We Answered:

I'm diabetic and I've been a nurse for more than forty years - and a damn good one! I'm also a registered x-ray technician, and was damn good at that, too.

Either job - Registered Nurse or X-ray tech - will demand a college degree. Both professionals are much in demand. They pay about the same. You will find, once you're trained and have your license to practice, that both are very secure jobs and benefits - especially if you work in a hospital - are excellent.

An LPN only needs one year of training, and though the pay is somewhat less than either of the other two, it is reasonable, and the benefits are as good as the RN and X-ray tech get. And yes, LPN's job security is excellent, too.

Robert Said:

Medical Career Option?

We Answered:

Well, It really depends on the college what they are looking for in you. But the best thing is to have a good attendance record. Because that shows that you are faithful and willing to go. Second, Classes wise, I think for Medical, you defiantly need Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, and All the math classes that you can get. Go ahead and study up on all the sciences also. Medical field is all about Math and Science. And Career wise, if you are wanting to go high in the Medical field, I would go as a Pediatric or something along those lines. Or possibly a Surgeon.
Good luck in the future!

Eric Said:

what type of medical career is right for me?

We Answered:

Your requested starting salary is pretty steep. But if you are truly willing to study for 8 years, then just go ahead and try to get into medical school to be a physician. If you like the Northeast, try Yale University, they have a medical program.

Amy Said:

Which job in the medical career is right for me?

We Answered:

If you start working as a trainee doctor and gradually work up to Senior House Officer if you are brainy and committed as you say you are you could work to Consultant level (or lab work can be varied and you get paid good money for working oncall).
