Acid Reflux Medicine

Erin Said:

Best across the counter medicine for acid reflux?

We Answered:

zantac (ranitidine) is good. Or you could just try something like Tums or Rennies.

Vera Said:

reaction to Aciphex acid reflux medicine?

We Answered:

No listed as a side effect. Cotton mouth is also not listed. I thought maybe that could add to a stuffy head. If you are taking allergy medication you might check the name of it with this drug and interactions. Maybe you will find you cut back on allergy meds. Keep a little log and see how it progresses for follow up to the Doc. And remember you can always consult with your pharmacist.

Can taking acid reflux medicine daily hurt my liver?

You typically don't worry about hepatotoxicity with acid reflux drugs. If you are talking about drinking alcohol, then thats a different story as that is documented to cause liver damage.

Acid reflux medicine? How long to work?

We Answered:

I've had Acid Reflux for about five years now, I can't really remember how it first started with my medicine but I do know this, my dad had it as well really bad (and still does). They had to do a surgery on him to scrape his esophagus to get it to stop hurting him.

With me, I quit taking my medicine about three months ago because my insurance stopped paying for them (I was taking Nexium) but I still get them sometimes to keep my refills up to date. When I take one, it takes about five hours to start working.

Maybe your doctor needs to write you out something stronger. You definitely need to call and tell him it's not working. It should be by now. If you're taking OTC meds for it, it may counter act with that medicine and make it worse instead of better.
