Alternative Medicine Schools

Ronald Said:

Are there any schools that offer majors in alternative medicine in Georgia?

We Answered:

No real schools, no. There are tons of 'non-accredited' schools offering degrees like this, but they're not considered real degrees. The point here is that alternative medicine isn't a real field of study - because it doesn't work. It's one big scam to relieve people of their money and health. If you want to actually help people, go get a real medical degree - you can become a nurse in 2 years.

Rebecca Said:

What are some good alternative medicine schools in the USA?

We Answered:

University of Wisconsin is a good one for medicine

Philip Said:

should you go pre med school before doing alternative medicine?

We Answered:

"Alternative Medicine" (including Chiropraxy) is crackpot quackery. Don't waste a decent "pre-med" education on altmed.

If you like a bit of the bone-cracking mumbo-jumbo but with some (mostly) scientific integrity, attend Osteopathy School instead.

Jorge Said:

Have some questions about alternative medicine degrees and schools?

We Answered:

Unfortunately, all 'alternative medicine degrees' are basically worthless, few involve any kind of science and in fact most actively avoid science as it disproves the subject being studied! If you want to study natural medicine, then get a chemistry, pharmacology or medical degree, then go on to study whatever you feel like, safe in the knowledge you have a good scientific background to rely on.

While spirituality is all well and good, some people like to blur the boundaries and mix in science-sounding things (known as pseudo-science). There are many things within alternative medicine that are extremely far-fetched and quite impossible.

Ultimately you are looking for a 'career' so be careful you do not waste many years and lots of money on a qualification you later find to be useless. This is why a lot of alt med practitioners have to rely on self-employment; if they can sell a product that does not really work then they must be quite good, however that's not really a skill that many organisations look for in an employee.

Benjamin Said:

Are there any schools that have programs in alternative medicine?

We Answered:

Are you thinking of something like Bastyr University? They're probably the top of the heap.

Alvin Said:

If I were to go to an alternative medicine school what kind of job could I get? Where could I work?

We Answered:

You would have to start your own business, your office where you receive your clients, or work in a group practice with other alternative practitioners.

Pretty much like an ordinary medical doctor does, except that you'd be very unlikely to get a job in a hospital as a medical doctor can.
