Cheap Pet Medicine

Gerald Said:

Cheap website for pet medicines?

We Answered:

There is a great website called petshed.com. I am doing my first order from them. It was really simple and i thought they had better prices than anyone else online.

Why do people think its a good idea to get a cheap pet?

We Answered:

I couldn't agree with you any more. I work at an SPCA and people want cheap pets without considering the cost after they get the animal home. In fact, your statement is so true that if everyone realized the truth in this I would be without a job with an animal shelter. Thank God that I am a vet tech and would still be employed. Because everyone would be a good pet owner and we wouldn't see so many strays. At the shelter that I work at people ask for free food and shots and everything. I will not adopt an animal to anyone if I think that the animal will not be properly cared for. Then again we don't always know. This not only frustrates me but it makes me very sad. Don't get a pet if you don't have at least $500.00 a month that you can save to only spend on your pet. Vet bills are pretty expensive and so is the grooming and medication not to mention the food and the rubber ball and the chew rope. Thank you so much for giving such great information.

Whats a good website for my Pets?

We Answered:

petedge.com is a great site for discount pet products, it has some medicaitons, lots of toys, treats, beds, etc.

for prescription meds, try petmeds.com

for training, i'd suggest doing a google search. maybe "training, (insert dog breed here)" because many breeds require different handling and training techniques. there are also many books available at pet stores on training different breeds.

Does anyone use 1-800-pet meds for their pets' medicine?

We Answered:

Do NOT buy from 1-800-pet meds, Petmeds or any other online pet medication services! 1-800 pet meds is not a licensed pharamacy. It is your Vet's job to look out for the safelty of your pet. Your Vet can be held legally responsible if they write a script for 1-800 because it is VERY rare that Petmeds provides you with the correct, quality medication that you could otherwise purchase from your vet for typically around the same price. I do suggest you check out different prices through Vet offices in your area. Our Vet clinic is cheaper or as expensive as ALL the medications found on these internet companies.

Internet sites are largly unlicensed and unregulated by any state or federal agancy. Some companies, like 1-800 Petmeds, have been getting and selling products illegally. Some medications that have expired have been repackaged. Medications meant for distribution to Austrailia and other FOREIGN markets have also been obtained by these companies. Clients have received medications having instructions in a foreign language! Many of these internet companies have been prosecuted for selling COUNTERFEIT medications that are cheap medications or worse, harmful to the person or animal taking them.

Some sites buy cheap medications in THIRD WORLD countries where quality control is poor or doesn't even exist, and repackage and resell them at huge profit as licensed drugs from the United States which they certaintly are NOT. Other scams involve the numbers of tablets or medications. Drugs such as Heartguard and Frontline come in 6 or 12 counts from the manufactorer. Many consumers buy the large size thereby getting additional tablets or medications free. The internet companies don't want you to know that there are 6 and 12 packs or that you can actually get free product from your verterinarian (at my office... you purchase 6 months of Frontline and get one dose free).

Did you know that guarentees offered by the drug companies are VOID once the product is purchased over the internet by one of these companies? It's true!!

Purchasing questionable or substandard medications is not the answer- you are wasting your money and risking your pet's health.

Is there any pet stores that carry UTI medicine for cats?

We Answered:

Only your vet can properly diagnosed your cat. Over the counter medicine will not work if she has an infection that needs prescription antibiotics. Some UTI supplements are available but those are just for the prevention of UTI and not a *cure*.

Discuss It!
