Not really recommended, but if the doc says, ok, then yes...don't mix the medicines, wait 5 hours till you give her the claritin...

try to give her fresh air. she is allergic to the 'dander' (minute particles of the dog's flesh which is in the hair), so that's what's making her cough. If you have a vaporiser it will help too, (minimize the dander in the air), but put her in an air-conditioned room with warm clothes on. (A room where the dog has not been in)

If her breathing is very laboured, get her to a hospital where they will give her oxygen.

have her talk to the DOCTOR. Since that doc treats her child they will know better what to do for the babe! Please, Please don't take advice from just anyone on here about that! if the doc said no, then I suggest not giving him anything until its cleared with the doc!

I prefer not to use cough medicines. Run a vaporizer in the room where baby spends most of its time. Run a hot shower in the bathroom with the door shut and take baby in there so he can breath in the steam. Moisture will help to losen the cough. After he has drank milk or formula, offer him water to help rinse the milk. Milk clings to the throat and can produce more coughing. Make sure he is getting plenty of fluids, especially water and juice. GL

The best and really only thing you can do is try to help her with her congestion. Use saline spray or drops in her nose and then suction it all out - also try sitting in a hot steamy bathroom with her and then suction again. If her congestion clears up a bit she will more than likely be a lot more comfortable and also cough less.

My 13 month old is going through the same thing.

We are:
using a warm mist vaporizer
putting a oil blend in the vaporizer
rubbing baby vicks on her chest

Last night she slept most of the night on me sitting up in the recliner.....it helped a lot. I am hoping she sleeps better tonight though :)
