Doctor Of Medicine

Henry Said:

I want to choose an internal medicine doctor?

We Answered:

internists are usually better at some things than general practitioners. if you or someone in your family sufers from particular ailments such as liver or kidney disease...sometimes you can find internists that also specialize. as a pediatric nurse i must give my opinion though. i would still takle younger children to a pediatrician. i feel they are best equipped to deal with the more unusual things that can pop up with the little ones and can often offer more reassurance and up to date treatments for the everyday stuff. if you have no children or they are older then you should have no problem finding an internist

Katie Said:

What is the difference between a Family Medicine doctor and an Med-Ped?

We Answered:

I think the main difference is that family medicine is generally an exclusively outpatient specialty, while med-peds can be both inpatient and outpatient (though it is certainly up to each doctor to decide how to split his/her time between the two).

Should I choose a family practice or internal medicine doctor?

You will need to see a family doctor first to get referred to someone who deals with internal medicine.

Most family doctors can order a blood test on their own to check your thyroid.
