Dog Allergy Medicine

Enrique Said:

Dog allergy medicine.?

We Answered:

The vet gave my little Pomeranian Hydroxazine(spelling) for her allergies and it works great. It is a human allergy medication which I also take. You can get your vet to call it in to a drugstore and it will be cheaper than getting it from them.Hope this has helped.

can I give my dog allergy medicine?

We Answered:

Phone your vet and ask. Phone calls, as somebody has already said are free. I have given mine Piraton (antihistamine), but I like to think I know what I'm doing lol. In general, it's not wise to give human meds. to a dog without checking with a vet first.

Poor boy - I bet he's uncomfortable. But chances are he'll not do this again!!

What kind of allergy medicine can I give my dog besides benadryl?

We Answered:

No sense giving a medication if it's not working..
I would change the food and put applecider vinegar in the drinking water before I would even think of giving Benedryl.. I don't give the dogs anything that they don't absolutely need.. I don't like the mentality of certain vets that think pets are guinea pigs and send everyone home saying ' try this ' If it's not going to work for sure.. Don't give it.. You would be better off to get rid of the allergen than to medicate the symptoms.
