Herbal Medicine For High Blood Pressure

Tim Said:

I have high blood pressure. Does anyone know of a herbal remedy that really works?

We Answered:

What is the origin of your high blood pressure?
Maybe some other diseases coexist?
If we don't know that and what kind of therapy you have taken, if you are pre or post menopausal, if your parents had high BP, we can't talk about natural remedies.
As I use to say, in health one size does not fit all.
According my opinion it is dangerous to try substitute your medicines with herbal remedies of any kind without your doctor's opinion.

Consider also the following things
- usually, herbal remedies are used along with the medicine
- the form in which you will take the herbal remedy: if you will use garlic, as has been mentioned, what will be the amount that you have to take?
Is garlic proper for your type of hypertension?
If you will drink an infusion(a tea of the herb),what will be the amount of the active substance that will be found in diluition in this infusion? How many cups you have to drink daily?

Try to adopt a healthy life-style that I'm sure you have already adopted, to loose weight, practice some "light" sport like aerobic, walk for 1/2 - 1 hour daily and try to control your stress ; at this point, a herbal infusion containing relaxing herbs is mostly helpful. Take care also if you take any antiinflammatory medicins, as they can slightly increase your BP.

herbal medicine reactions bad circulation?

We Answered:

~!Starlynn!~ has a good point... it could be an interaction between the drugs and the supplements. You can ask your doctor or a pharmacist if there are any interactions to be on the safe side.

On the flip side, that's a completely normal reaction.
Itching and tingling in an area that is getting more circulation when it's used to lower circulation is entirely common and basically expected. My scalp itched when I first started taking Ginkgo, too. All the herbs that you mention there are good for circulation and cardiovascular health, so if your feet were always cold before you took this, I would be shocked if you didn't feel some sort of tingling or itching (cramping sounds right for what you mention, too).
However, if the odd feelings don't go away (at least a bit) after about a week of taking the supplement, then it might be an allergic reaction (which is rare)... Oh, and that's after taking it for a week straight.

Worst case scenario, if it is an allergy, you could try each ingredient separately to remove the one you're having a reaction to, you could take L-Arginine to help your circulation, and/or you could even use an L-Arginine circulation gel to apply directly to your feet. L-Arginine is a simple Amino Acid that you get whenever you eat protein, so you're most likely not going to be allergic or have any problems with it.
Good luck!

herbal drying question?

We Answered:

medicine - yeah right!
when harvesting weed separate buds and leaves, dispose of the remaining stalks, dry your herb on a newspaper in a dry and warm room for awhile until most of the moisture is gone, buds should be put into plastic bag and cured for a month or few - this results in much mellower taste. note that you shouldn't put them into plastic bag when they are still fresh - moisture might make some nasty fungi grow. leaves are best smoked in a bong not a regular pipe or you can make brownies

How has conventional medicine harmed you?

We Answered:

Well, here's some things that I will not deny, have made me "question" certain things...by the way, this is a great question:-)

1) Being a YA member in Alt Med,seeing certain things/attitudes LOL

2) Being in Cosmetology,my hands are pretty vital to me obviously...well,at 22 y/o I began to show signs of Eczema (on hands),so ofcourse I went to the Docotor (at that time I was still under the care of MD's vs DO's),over the course of the next few years,I saw all kinds of MD's within my office...

They ALL kept giving more topical Steroids (stronger and stronger ones) ,one even gave me an RX for LACTIC ACID....ever tried to put "acid" on your hands when you have Eczema???!!!!!! Talk about BURN,sadly I was just young, and I blindly respected/trusted them......

Finally, and I stress FINALLY...they gave me a referral to a Dermatologist,he immediaetly took me off all the hard core steroids and told me that all these years, they were too strong for me,and making me WORSE! He puts me on a milder one mixed with Eucerin,it helps a lot.....for awhile....

Finally years down the road,I'm at a store,I see a book called the Bantam Medical Dictionary (keep in mind we had no Internet yet) I start studying myself....on my OWN,after years of MD's,failed treatments...I make the link between Asthma,Allergies and Eczema(which I have all)...

Of allllll the Docs I saw,NOBODY ever told me there was a "link",from there I found out that Benedryl had anti-inflamm properties on the skin when taken internally, again not even ONE of those Doctors ever suggested Benedryl to me......I am now Eczema Free 90% of the year....thanks to MYSELF.

Again...this wasn't "one bad Doctor" LOL I saw atleast 10 during this time,b/c that's how my Doctors Office was ran at that time, you saw whoever was available.

There's others...but that would be "the" one that made me begin the quest to educate MYSELF :-)

Discuss It!
