Herbal Medicines And Their Uses

Clyde Said:

If I marry a Chinese will he make me healthier/prettier through his cooking/herbal medicines etc?

We Answered:

Is that what he is telling you? That he will make you healthier and prettier? Sounds suspect to me!

"balancing "hot and cold" and those Chinese health practices". What is balancing hot and cold supposed to achieve? Be careful of medicinal herbs, they are basically dirty drugs with lack of proven efficacy and lack of known safety, the quality varies and they are at risk of being contaminated. There is very little evidence in support of any Traditional Chinese Medicine, and some of it is crazy. Do you know about Bile Bears? Read: http://www.visitvancouver.bc.ca/article-…

There is a good reason why traditional chinese medicine is mostly only used by poor Chinese people. China's average life expectancy has more than doubled in the last 60 years, since the introduction of modern health care.

For optimum dietary health, you can't do any better than sticking to the normal recommended healthy balanced diet based on the five main food groups. Get plenty of variety, and this can certainly include some good Chinese food, which is delicious. Just avoid those TCMs. They are not a good health choice.

I'm sure he's a good guy btw, but you probably need better reasons than those to marry him.

Institute of Alternative Medicines & Research is the largest scam in India. Is it not?

We Answered:

Medicine is a field of endless diversity, tremendous responsibility, immense humility and great dedication.

Well ask them what you have to do to fulfill the requirements and beware of the scam artists. Contact responsible government officials to verify where ever in doubt.

Do osteopaths and herbalists work together?

We Answered:

What an amazing co-incidence! This account gets created 2 days ago just after i had a spat with a multiple account user and a question is raised about the osteopathy with implications about credibility!
Incredible isn't it....
Not credible actually.

In answer to your question it would depend on the osteopath. It is not part of our core training but Osteopaths have been known to do other courses in health related modalities post graduation so it is entirely possible that they may use herbalism as part of their treatments.
It isn't standard and its not common.

Some Osteopaths work with all kinds of other practitioners others only work with Osteopaths.
What you are asking is the same as "Do MD's and herbalists work together"
By default no. But it does happen.

Now to critique the other answer which is most probably from the same user...
####well, they are not allowed to prescribe real medicine.####
What is real medicine? Toxic chemicals perhaps?
There is nothing "unreal about what Osteopaths prescribe. Its usually exercise and healthy eating advice. No we do not prescribe drugs. We leave that to the legalised drug dealers.

####And as someone smarter than me pointed out######
Ha ha! Well at least he admits it.
####we tested all the herbs and the stuff we found that worked became 'medicine' the stuff that didn't is a nice bowl of soup or a potpourri.####
So that means there is nothing left to discover in medicine does it? Its all been done and dusted?
How ignorant is that!

###If you need treatment go and see someone who is a real doctor####
If you need manual therapy don't waste your time seeing a doctor. All they will do is prescribe drugs. Someone trained like me will be able to give you safe, effective treatment without poisoning your body.
If you need medical intervention we will MEDICALLY assess and refer accordingly.
We are primary care practitioners. That doesn't mean we treat all pathology, it means we are qualified to assess if a patient is suitable for our treatment and to identify when they are not and refer on.
