Sam Said:
what kind of doctor does maternal fetal medicine? We Answered:
A perinatologist. Your O. B. should be able to recommend one. Any hospital that takes high risk pregancies or has a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will have a Perinatologist.Gregory Said:
I want to study maternal-fetal medicine in college and become and ob/gyn?We Answered:
In order to be a a ob/gyn you must go to a college and then after about four year to a medical school. It would be between 12 nd 14 years after high school to fulfill your dream./Peggy Said:
residency programs of neonatal surgery and maternal fetal medicine? We Answered:
Those are separate residencies so you would have to do one first & then the other; the neonatal surg one involves general surgery + a fellowship. So you are looking at 14 years or more of residencies & fellowships. Since you go through a match program to get your residencies (you do not get to pick per se); they will explain this to you in med school. Worry about that first. Med school will quide you with what you need to do.Casey Said:
Maternal fetal medicine?We Answered:
yes, i work at a perinatologist office and we have a program called "sweet success" for pregnant pts with diabetes or gestational diabetes. Your dietician will co-ordinate your care with a high risk perinatologist, since having GDM causes you to have a high risk pregnancy.Very routine. We do it with every since sweet success patient.

maternal fetal medicine.?We Answered:
You will first need to do a residency in OB/GYN. After that, you can determine if you want to further specialize in Perinatology. Get through high school and college first before being concerned on what area of medicine you want go into. You'll have plenty of time in medical school to explore all the areas.Leonard Said:
Can you be both a Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist and Gynecologic Oncologist? We Answered:
It's possible in theory, but in practice you would be dealing with two very different groups of patients, which means you would be dealing with two different medical teams, nursing teams, wards and clinics. Not worth the hassle.Rachel Said:
Has anyone ever been to a maternal fetal medicine specialist? We Answered:
It all depends on the types of testing they are doing on you and your baby. It also could be that they want to get all blood tests out of the way at once and each vile has a different place to be sent for the tests. I visited a maternal fetal specialist all through my pregnancy and only had blood drawn once. Although it was a lot, I found it easier than getting poked every other week.
