it's not by bouncing the ball off the body, but by using it for the flexibility, stability, and resistance aspect, but it does have muscle toning aspects that will help you. while you don't want to slam the ball into the side of your body, it's good to build the muscles and strength by toning those muscles first, just start small and work up with variations of different exercises

I also reccommend Men's health magazine, they often have good medicine ball workouts.

Well we do one with the ball between your legs and you sit in a half crunch position and you move your legs and hips from left to right and then we also do crunches with the ball between your legs and then we do sit ups with the ball above your head (its not a true sit up you use your legs to help you up)
