Time Released or Fast acting pain medication? We Answered:
For Chronic moderate and moderate to severe pain, time released without a doubt. At that level of pain, a slow release of narcotics should dull the pain and keep it away. If a time released medication is taken at the first sign of pain, it will be very well controlled and you should experience little or no pain at all over the next 8 hours. However, if the pain is severe to very severe, you need fasting acting pain medicine. The slow rate of release from time released formulas will usually not be enough to conquer the pain.
Your doctor could prescribe both since its a chronic pain issue, and that way you can use the time release for times of normal level pain and have quick release for those emergency situations.
For arthritis overall, time released is best. Because the flow of narcotics is a little slower then quick release, you might find it less sedating too.
You might want to discuss using a combination therapy. combining a low dose of NSAIDs with your narcotic therapy. You might be able to reduce the overall amount of narcotics you need to take on a regular basis.
As long as you use your narcotics as prescribed, you shouldn't have an issue with addiction. Over taking narcotics is the reason most get addicted.
Ohhh and one more thing. Tramadol is frequently presribed for pain nowdays. Though it is technically a non narcotic (in reality its a partial narcotic), it acts on Opoids in the brain similiar to the way codeine works, so if its presribed to you, treat it with care.

whats the best pain medicine for crippling arthritis until you can get to a specialist? We Answered:
For arthritis pain you might want to start with an anti-inflammatory first. Ibuprofen, OTC and in prescription strength help with the joint soreness. The bad part about taking pain killers is that your body stops making it's on natural pain killers and when the meds wear off you are just going to take more pain meds and end up vegging out. But on the whole if you can't take this pain anymore go to a pain specialist. That's where you'll find help for deep pain.Jill Said:
what is the best non perscription medicine for lower arthritis back pain? doans does not work?We Answered:
You can use a combination of non prescribed medication to try and hit the areas that are most annoying; however, 50mg-150mg indomethicin oral or anal works the absolute best for your back.1. I used to use a combination of medications which included 400mg Ibuprofen 4x a day with food. This takes the swelling and inflammation down. DO NOT exceed1600mg in one day and you may need prilosec for stomach protection as ALL ANTI INFLAMMATORIES are difficult on the stomach. ***You can use Tylenol with Ibuprofen and Aspirin watch for daily maximums & don't exceed.
2. Robaxacet is Tylenol (acetominophen) combined with methocarbonal (muscle relaxant)...this also comes with codeine on request from the pharmacist. This only relaxes any tight muscles around the pain and helps reduce some pain. You can use Robaxacet with Ibuprofen and Aspirin, BUT NOT Tylenol as it's already an ingredient in this pill.
3. Robaxacyl is Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) combines with methocarbonal (muscle relaxant)...this has a blood thinning active ingredient and isn't ideal for anyone under age 16 years or complications with blood pressure, ailments, etc. This both takes down the inflammation as well as treats the pain. You can use Robaxacyl with Ibuprofen and Tylenol, BUT NOT Aspirin as it's already an ingredient in this pill.

4. Aleve is a Nonsteroidal Anti Inflammatory (Naproxen) which will helps reduce the inflammation, and as the inflammation decreases so does the pain; BUT you CANNOT mix this drug with any of the above mentioned safely.
5. Dynamint has been used on horses legs for years, but it does an amazing job on sore muscles. It's ingredients are Peppermint Oil, Eucalyptus Oil , Tea Tree Oil and Calendula Oil.
6. Deep Cold Gold is an alternative rub that works very well on tight aching tendons.

What are best medicines for Arthritis pains and which has no side effect? Can anyone name them?We Answered:
There is no medicine man-made or natural that does not have a side effect. The fact that it has any effect is in and of itself a side effect. If it works it needs to also be removed from the body in some way, so you can see that 'touches' not justthe designated spot, but most others too.
