Medicine For Constipation In Adults

Philip Said:

Worried about the possibility of colon cancer?

We Answered:

Dear Grrrr: You went to a hospital. You were treated by a qualified, licensed physician, who went to school for years to become a doctor, and I am sure he has a lot of experience. He ran a battery of tests on you, all of which were basically negative for any signs that could cause alarm or cause further testing. You asked the doctor a point blank question and he responded in a positive way that you were fine. You have a history of IBS. You were sick with flu like symptoms. You are only 27 years old. All this information tells me that you just need to follow the doctor's orders by resting and drinking water and you will be just fine in a few days. Give your body a chance to recuperate and heal.

Paul Said:

How do you feel about this?

We Answered:

That sucks.

N AWHY THE F*CK DOES ACIPHEX HAVE THESE SIDE EFFECTS? CANYONE TELL ME HOW COMMON IS COMMON?

We Answered:

Every single medication, prescribed or over the counter can have side effects that may make taking it unacceptable. How common is common?

Aciphex has been studied extensively in clinical trials, with over 1,000 people worldwide having been evaluated. In these studies, side effects occurring in a group of people taking the drug are documented.

Based on these studies, the most common side effects of Aciphex included:

Headaches -- up to 9.9 percent of people
Diarrhea -- up to 4.5 percent
Nausea -- up to 4.5 percent
Vomiting -- up to 3.6 percent
Abdominal pain (stomach pain) -- up to 3.6 percent
Pain (the type of pain was not specified) -- up to 3 percent
Sore throat -- up to 3 percent
Flatulence -- up to 3 percent
Infection -- up to 2 percent
Constipation -- up to 2 percent.

Just because a side effect is listed doesn't mean that you will develope it. As you
can see vomiting has a 3.3 percent which means that out of 1000 people tested 33 people
had this side effect. Does that mean you will? No but you MIGHT.

The only way to know for sure is to try the medication, putting the side effects out of your
mind and see if you develope it.

Can someone please help me?

We Answered:

I'm not a doctor, but it sounds like your kidneys aren't functioning properly and instead just flush everything out. You need to continue seeking medical treatment until someone takes this seriously and determines what's wrong.

Olga Said:

Can someone help me with my conclusion please!?

We Answered:

The introduction and conclusion summarize the body of the essay. The conclusion may recommend some further areas to be addressed that are relevant to the subject matter.

Miralax safe for toddlers?

We Answered:

My son has had constipation issues for several months and we have been giving him Miralax on and off for quite a while. Just the normal adult one. It's not really "medicine" per se, it's just Polyethylene Glycol. It doesn't stay in your system - it moves through, without effect, until it reaches your bowels, drawing water to them.

We have found it to be really, really effective. Obviously the goal is to get the kid OFF it eventually, and so we are stepping down his doses and upping the fiber in his diet. But basically there's been no side effects.

In terms of dosing, you use the cap. It's not really exact. We started with one quarter of the dose marking in the cap (read the bottle), moved it up and down a little, are now back at one quarter. We give it to him in his water at bedtime. Sometimes he doesn't finish the water, that's okay. If his BM's seem runny and frequent, step down the dosage. If they get hard again, give him a tad more.

It really appears to be pretty harmless and I must say, for babies that really suffer from constipation (as my son did) it WORKS, when nothing else works.

Obviously you need to consult a doctor for kids, but you did.
