Medicine For High Blood Pressure

Tracey Said:

What is the best blood pressure medicine for extremely high pressure?

We Answered:

Don't worry John, she will pull out of the situation as smokers suffer from COPD and give a tough fight at low oxygen saturation too.The doctor will give her diuretics as she might have retained water in the body and some BP lowering pill (except beta blocker, if she has lung problem).
You will be enjoying her hand made cookies very soon.

Randall Said:

Does High Blood pressure medicine cause dependency?

We Answered:

There is some basis in your fear. Should your hypertension resolve itself, you wouldn't know unless you discontinued treatment for a while, and no physician I know of is going to go along with that course once you're on medication, especially anything beyond a basic diuretic (or "water pill," which should always be the first course of treatment) must be strictly taken daily to avoid serious complications from the medicine itself; you can't just stop taking it when you want.

Curtis Said:

If a man is on high blood pressure medicine, can they take Viagra?

We Answered:

Viagra was initially studied for use in lowering high blood pressure, and is also used for a rare type of high blood pressure, called pulmonary arterial hypertension. Therefore, having high blood pressure in and of itself doesn't mean you shouldn't take Viagra. Also, there is one medication that has a severe interaction with Viagra, and that is nitroglycerin (they both dilate blood vessels and taken together can cause a severe drop in blood pressure). The major "contraindications" (reasons you shouldn't take a medication) for Viagra are:

Also on nitrates such as nitroglycerin
Sexual Intercourse inadvisable for cardivascular risk reasons
Impaired liver or kidney function
Hypotension (low blood pressure)
Recent stroke or Heart attack
Retinal disorders

Now, you may not even know you have some of these conditions without a thorough exam by your physician. It is inadvisable to take any prescription medications unless on order from your physician.
Many "over the counter" products are also potentially dangerous and you should always check with your local pharmacist before taking any of these products.

So , bottom-line: I agree with you, they are asking for trouble, but not necessarily because of their high blood pressure. Good luck !

Marc Said:

When is the best time for me to take high blood pressure medicine?

We Answered:

The difference between medications and supplements is, medications are intended to treat the symptoms while supplements are meant to treat the cause.

High blood pressure medication only treats the symptoms - eventually, the dosages will be increased or you'll be switched to something stronger, because this medication is not addressing the cause.

Your doctor probably won't tell you this unless you ask him straight-out, but high blood pressure is caused by dehydration - you're not drinking enough water. The body is taking water from the blood and injecting it into the cells, which are experiencing a drought condition. This causes the arteries and vessels to shrink (due to the loss of volume) and it also causes the blood to thicken. This requires more pressure on the heart to pump the thickened blood through the arteries, vessels, etc. This increased pressure is what is referred to as hypertension - or high blood pressure.

Your doctor may have told you to cut back on salt. To be honest, there is excess salt in the arteries, but excess salt isn't the bad guy here. The extra salt is only because there is less water to maintain the proper balance. Instead of cutting back on salt, you should be drinking more water.

You can correct the problem safely by clicking on the link below.

NOTE: Go ahead with the medication and continue until the doctor pulls you off of it. Don't quit on your own. He'll be monitoring it, and will cut the dosage or stop it altogether when you've got the blood pressure back to normal levels.

Joan Said:

I started taking medicine for high blood pressure. Now I feel very tired and I can sleep 16 hours a day?

We Answered:

This is a very common side effect, especially of ACEI drugs such as lisinopril or enalipril.
