Medicines For Diabetes
Andrea Said:
What medicines for diabetes type 2 are there? We Answered:
Although | am a type 2 diabetic, diagnosed almost two and a half years ago, I am not familiar with any of the meds your other two answerers have named (though I'm sure the info they give is accurate)..This is because type 2 diabetes is almost always treated by diet and lifestyle changes alone. This is just about always the first advice given by doctors to newly diagnosed type 2 diabetics.
Only in the few cases where lifestyle changes are not effective, or where the patient can't (or more often won't) adopt the necessary lifestyle changes are drugs used.
My diabetes is treated entirely through diet ( I also increased my exercise levels when diagnosed, as advised by my doctor).
while I know I'll always have it now (it isn't reversible), it barely impinges on my life. My blood glucose levels are well within normal - my diabetes nurse told me at my last check up that my the results of my HbA1C test (which tells you how high your blood glucose has been on average over the last 8-12 weeks) were lower than hers, and in a recent medical report for a job my doctor described me as having 'well controlled diabetes'.
There seems no reason for me ever to have to take drugs.
I know it's not what you asked but I think It's important you include the fact that most cases of type 2 diabetes are controlled by diet and other lifestyle changes, rather than by drugs, in your assignment

my sister has a cat with diabetes, what medicines can be given to a cat,?We Answered:
I would say there isn't,ones that you buy in a store would not work well I bet. You'll have to keep going with vet medicine or insulin.Even if she doesn't want to put her cat down-it may be best if the cat is in pain.Alfredo Said:
What happen when I develop diabetes during pregnancy? We Answered:
What do you mean you won't take the medication ? You would risk miscarriage and/or a profound disability because your don't want to ?Parenthood is about making sacrifices for your children.
It's normal to be scared of things you don't know about.
All pregnant women get this test. You have not ben singled out.

why should one take medicines for diabetes all life long?We Answered:
Unfortunatly diabetes is a life long condition and a progresive illness, u can slow it down by making good diet and lifestyle changes but you will always have it!If your doctor has started you on tablet medication? then you are a type 2 diabetic, your diabetes medication normally can also help to protect against heart desease which unfortunalty can be a long term condition from diabetes, this may be another reason you will be on it for life.
The good new is now u have been diagnosed you can make life changing decisions with regards to diet and health to help prevent the long term conditions! most people dont get that chance the stoke or the heart attack comes first!
Relax, have a healthy balanced diet!!! exercise!!! and every once in a while let your hair down and enjoy a piece of birthday cake or a 3 course meal.
