Over the counter or natural medicine for anxiety? We Answered:
Try taking the herb passionflower-the herbal tincture and magnesium. Natural Calm is a good magnesium supplement. Niacin is also good for anxiety. Niacin not niacinamide.Marcia Said:

what natural medicine workd for anxiety? We Answered:
My Grandma would suggest catnip tea.St. John's Wort, in theory, may have effects similar to SSRI's (Zoloft, Prozac, Paxil, etc.), so would be similar to what you were on but milder.
Valerian and melatonin are supposed to help with sleep, but valerian doesn't work for me and melatonin can cause depression in some people.
GABA is the neurotransmitter enhanced by Valium and Xanax, but I don't know if GABA supplements are natural or how well they get into the brain from the stomach.
Exercises and self-hypnosis (or similar things like progressive relaxation, meditation, yoga, chi kung, or tai chi) are very helpful -- and don't forget to include some non-stressful, relaxed time for yourself.

what is the best natural medicine for anxiety/depression?We Answered:
I have a number of friends that have found success with Amoryn. It's an all-natural supplement designed to help with symptoms of anxiety and depression. Amoryn's formula contains both 5-HTP and St. John's Wort, among other ingredients. You can learn more about Amoryn at http://www.amoryn.com/advantage.html. This site actually has a lot of great info.If you're looking for a St. John's Wort product. It's my understanding that you need to find one that's been standardized for hyperforin. This is main active component responsible for reducing symptoms of depression. Here's a link to a clinical research study published in a reputable medical journal discussing the topic - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15492…
Another great resource is the Kelly's St. John's Wort Blog - http://www.sjwinfo.org/
Try Google-ing "Natural Depression Supplement" - It seems like there's some good info there about how to naturally overcome depression symptoms without prescription medications.
Start there and continue learning about different alternatives. Everyone's different, so the best long-term approach is to continue educating yourself and find what works best for you.
Another product worth checking out is Seredyn. I have a number of friends and family that have and continue to have success with this as well. Although it isn't designed to help with depression, it's shown to be very effective in reducing symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks. More information about Seredyn can be found at http://www.seredyn.com/help_helpme.html
Hopefully this information is of some help. All the best!

If you find a cure for anxiety your nausea may go away.Couldn't find an herbal for anxiety. If it is an ongoing neurophysiological problem, then I suggest your doctor. They may refer you to a Psychiatrist or Neurologist who can better diagnose and prescribe the necessary medication. Or they may send you to a Psychologist who will better diagnose you and suggest to your doctor which meds may work best. Or your doctor has had enough experience in this to diagnose and medicate you him/herself. Or you can try an alternative physician.
If it is not the way your brain normally functions then try a balanced diet. Once you get the proper nutrients in your body (try a health food store for supplements) through good foods, the anxiety will be reduced or go away completely.
Now, if you have something that you are anxious about, that is not anxiety, that is stress. And it can also stress out your stomach.
Ginger and peppermint are also very good to calm your stomach. My son's gastroenterologist recommended ginger capsules.
Forms:
---capsules
---tea
---gingerale
---ginger candy
Celestial Seasonings makes teas that MAY be good to calm the anxiety. They also make "Grandma's TummyMint Tea" (yum).

I need a natural medicine for anxiety. I am on Xanax and don't want to keep taking Rx drugs.?We Answered:
Counselling would also be of benefit to you. A therapist will help you to figure out what thought patterns or other triggers cause the anxiety in your life and provide you with the necessary mental tools to combat that anxiety. It's a longterm treatment, but what you can apply those techniques you learn in therapy to all of your life for the rest of your life.
Or find a support group. Contact your local Alliance for the Mentally Ill office. They are a wonderful resourse.
