Naturopathic Medicine Schools
Reginald Said:
what is the best naturopathic school/alternative medicine school? We Answered:
There are only 5 in the U.S., so it is difficult to say which is the best. However, I would recommend the University of Bridgeport or National University of Health Sciences. Both have a good reputation in the alternative health care community and National University is pretty well respected among mainstream health professionals. The other three schools are fairly new. National has been a chiropractic school since 1906 (it has expanded its curriculum in the last 15 years) and is known for its scientific approach to alternative medicine. The University of Bridgeport has been around since the 1920's and is more like a traditional university, with a lot of diversity in their programs (chiropractic, natruropathic, engineering, English, etc).Overall, i would recommend the University of Bridgeport for naturopathy.

What are some good Naturopathic under-grad schools? We Answered:
To answer this question, I went to the AANMC, the Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges. The colleges they list are all accredited through the U.S. Department of Education. Naturopathic programs are accredited through the CNME, the Council on Neuropathic Medical Education.AANMC schools listed, in alphabetical order are the following; Bastyr University, Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine, Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, National College of Natural Medicine, Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, and University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine.
None of these are the best fit for everybody, so it is best to visit each of them to sit in on a class or two at each of them, and discuss your goals with a counselor.
Keep in mind that you can't be licensed in all states for this profession, so you may have to move if you live in a state which does not license naturopathic physicians. Check the first site posted below for more information.
I wish you all the best in your career. There is a great need for this specialty, as medical doctors seem to opt for surgery or drugs only.

Which universities offer a bachelors program in alternative medicine so I can go to naturopathic school? We Answered:
In North America, the term naturopathic doctor IS protected. And there are only a handful of accredited colleges/universities.Here's a link to the accrediting body, the American Association of Naturopathic Medical Colleges...

The upper right corner of AANMC webpage hosts links to each of the schools.

How accepted is Naturopathic medicine? We Answered:
It really depends on the area (ie. in arizona naturopaths have as much power as MDs, while in certain states they aren't even allowed to be liscened to practice). By the same token, some crowds hate the practice others like it.I personally think the real naturopath schools (there are only 6 of them) are pretty good, and give you a high quality medical education. I originally wanted to become a doctore but abandoned the path after I saw all the problems in modern medicine (and the way the schools are run), but naturopathy seemed really cool to me, and I'm considering going to one.
Outside of the US, naturopathy tends to be more accepted, and many of the practices they do here are considered obvious and self evident.

An Education in Alternative Medicine (chinese, naturopathic..ETC)?We Answered:
There is a degree called MH Master Herbologist (I think that is what it is). And they do teach acupuncture at naturopathic schools. You could get an RN degree and then get training in herbology, homeopathy, etc. People tend to take you more seriously if you have a western degree in addition to the natural medicine one.Wade Said:
Naturopathic Doctors out there - PLEASE ANSWER THIS QUESTION!?We Answered:
You might want to consider raising the bar of your aspirations a bit higher.Naturopathy...aside from the mantra eat healthy/live healthy...is bunk.
