What he says about exenatide is quite true but as this drug has been available since 2005 I believe that you are asking about a similar medication - liraglutide (Victoza) - which was more recently introduced and is a glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor. It has effects similar to exenatide but with a lower incidence of gastrointestinal side effects. The only other injectable non-insulin is pamlitide (Symlin).
