Lloyd Said:

what kind of over the counter medicine can you take for a bladder infection?

We Answered:

Nothing. You need antibiotics to get rid of the infection. If left untreated, the infection can spread to the kidneys. Plus, it's pretty miserable. Just go to the family doc, they'll make you pee in a cup, test it, then give a prescription for the right anitbiotic to treat it. Until then, drink lots of water and cranberry juice. This will not make the symptoms go away, but, will help flush your bladder out.
Uristat and Azo will help with the symptoms, but, it WILL NOT GET RID OF THE INFECTION. Until the infection is treated, it will still cause you problems.

i have a bladder infection is their any over the counter medicine available?

We Answered:

You have a rampaging infection.

Go to a doctor and get a presciption antibiotic. Don't mess with OTC or herbal crap or you'll end up with a scarred, permanantly damaged urinary system and possibly damaged kidneys.

Tracey Said:

What is an over-the-counter bladder infection medicine, that actually TREATS it?

We Answered:

I'm sorry to inform you this, but there are no over the counter medicine for treating bladder infections. As a pharmacy student I can tell you that Bladder infections are generally caused by gram negative bacterias that usually moves from your urethra to the bladder. If it is a bladder infection, as in with pain urinating, or pain holding back urine, and or fever, you will need to get an antibiotic to treat it.
some people believe that Cranberry juice or berries can "Cure" bladder infections, however the German Commission E, the only regulator of herbal medication which is in Europe have tested that cranberry does not "Cure" bladder infections, it only help prevent bladder infections, and can relieve mild symptoms.

If I were you, I would get an antibiotic soon, before the bladder infection become worse and can either cause you to have a systemic infection or a kidney infection.

Good luck
