Over The Counter Urinary Tract Infection Medicine

Tyrone Said:

is there a medicine i can take over the counter for a urinary tract infection?

We Answered:

Sadly not, cranberry extract and juice can help for the PREVENTION of UTI but will not treat such an infection. You need to see your doctor for confirmation and antibiotics as soon as possible before the infection spread to your kidneys.

Julia Said:

any over the counter remidies for uninary tract infections?

We Answered:

Hi,
If you have the burning and the need to pee all the time, try Boots own brand liquid remedy. It is about £2. and seems to work for me, it doesn't taste that nice, but you put the measured dose in a glass of water and drink it three times a day for a few days. It is much cheaper than the sachets. Canesten is for the itchy thrush type infections. Drink lemon barley water as well, it helps neutralise the urine and ease the burning.

is it true that drinking alot of water cures a urinary tract infection?

We Answered:

your best bet is to see a doctor. he will prescribe an antibiotic and suggest you drink a lot of water. this is so that more antibiotic will go through the system that is sick.

my wife and daughter will drink lots of cranberry juice if they feel a urinary tract infection coming on and sometime that will do the trick. i don't think it will cure a full blown infection though.

i'd see a doctor and get some antibiotics.

William Said:

I have a Urinary Tract Infection. What should I do?

We Answered:

If you have a UTI then see another doctor right away. While it is quite possible it may resolve itself before then, you might also get a worsening of symptoms and widening of the infection. My grandma had a UTI that went untreated too long. May God rest her soul.

There are OTC medicines than can lessen the risk of getting UTI's and one that can lessen the burning and irritation. There are none that will get rid of them though. I know some knucklehead is going to give you something contrary to what I am telling you. Do yourself a favor.....take my advice.
