Linda Said:

Has anyone ever heard of 1800petmeds or other reputable online pet med sites selling counterfit medicine?

We Answered:

Yes, they DO sell counterfeit drugs.

Just ask a few of our clients who have been royally screwed over by 1-800-petmeds. One of the dogs tested heartworm positive while they were taking heartworm prevention (Heartgard) from Pet Meds. Yikes!

Our hospital REFUSES to deal with these *unlicensed* online pharmacies because we care about our patients!

ADD: 1-800-Petmeds gets an estimated 80% of their meds from 3rd world countries who do not have any organizations (like the FDA) to set standards and check on manufacturing procedures.... pretty scary.

Antonio Said:

I need to take my cat on a plane and can't get pet meds or order stuff online. What people meds might help?

We Answered:

Benadryl is safe for cats in the correct dosage. Valium can be prescribed by the vet and bought at a pharmacy. You'll want to make sure you get the correct dosage for your cat's weight so you don't under or overdose her. It would be a good idea to give her a dose a few days before your trip to make sure she doesn't react to it. In the air, you won't be able to get medical attention for her if something goes wrong. Do not give her anything without the vet's approval. You can line the front of the carrier with blanket material to keep her from pushing on the bars. You probably won't stop the crying though. You could try a smaller carrier so she doesn't have room to thrash around and fight. It will be cramped and uncomfortable for her but at least she won't hurt herself and she'll get over it after you arrive home.
