Prescription Allergy Medicine

Sidney Said:

Prescription allergy medicine is making me worse?

We Answered:

Hello,

For a person who has had chronic sinus & tonsils related issues, I can tell you one thing - antihistamines and other anti-allergics are good only to a certain extent. And the relief too is quite temporary.

Over the years I have relied more on natural alternatives, with generally much better results.

Certain herbal and homeopathic remedies have been found to be beneficial in the treatment and prevention of allergies. These remedies are not only much safer to use than the traditional antihistamine drugs but also gentler for the body. Herbs such as Urtica urens and Plantago lanceolata (also known as plantain) contain effective anti-inflammatory and astringent properties and have a long history of treating inflammation, allergies and respiratory complaints.

Quercitin is a highly effective herb that contains antioxidants and helps to boost the immune system and improve circulation while Euphrasia officinalis (Eyebright) maintains eye health and good vision. In addition, homeopathic ingredients such as Allium cepa and Ars. Iod helps to control allergy symptoms such as sneezing, wheezing chest, inflammation in the eyes and irritability.

Also, Keep your house free of dust and pet dander by vacuuming and dusting regularly with a damp cloth and Use protective covers for mattresses and pillows to shield against dust mites.

Hope all this helps

Good Luck!

What's a good non-prescription allergy medicine for stuffy nose?

We Answered:

Claritin-D (has loratadine and pseudophedrine). You can get a cheaper generic equivalent at your local drug store. Just check the ingredients. Read the warnings, and probably you shouldn't take it with alcohol.

Is it safe to take allergy medicine with prescription pain pills?

We Answered:

You can get the pharmacist to do a drug cross reference for you to find out. I don't think they will be a problem but then I am not a pharmacist so double check to be on the safe side.
