What blood pressure medicines are safe during pregnancy with out side effects?

We Answered:

My doctor pu me on Methlydopa... But you said it's either to strong or too weak. I have noticed that when I do take my blood pressure it's always like 100/55... which i think is low.. And it gives me really bad headaches! This one doesn't affect my wetness or sexdrive!
GOod Luck!

Are there any safe over-the-counter cold and sinus medicines during pregnancy?

We Answered:

Me too... In fact I'm just getting over my sinus infection. I called and talked to my doc first, but she advised me to take Tylenol anything (EXCEPT PM). I took the Cold Multi-Symptom Severe Daytime formula and I'm feeling better after two days. I get hit really hard with these but I found that this Tylenol worked for me. I was told when I first found out I was preggo that Tylenol is pretty much the only thing you can take that won't harm the baby. But make sure to ask your doc first!!

I am no expert, but I would suggest sticking it out.

I would also recommend getting a neti pot. It looks like a little teapot. You put warm salt water into it and pour water into your nose to clean out your sinuses. They are *so helpful* during a cold.

An even better alternative is a Nasaline. If you have a health food store in your area, you might be able to find a Nasaline where they keep the neti pots. It is the same idea - flushing your sinuses with warm salt water - but the Nasaline is much more effective.

If you are experiencing a sore throat, I would also recommend gargling with salt water.

It is important to know that salt water kills germs and changes the PH level in your throat and sinuses so that germs cannot grow there. Using a neti pot or Nasaline daily when you are not sick will kill germs in your sinuses and prevent you from getting ill.

Most people find the idea of irrigating their sinuses to be disgusting. While I understand their thinking, after using the Nasaline I am can't imagine not using it. I used a neti on and off for years, but I must use a Nasaline daily. I am as addicted to the Nasaline as I am to brushing my teeth. I want a clean mouth *and* a clean nose.

I sound like a commercial, the Nasaline people should give me some money ;).

If you get a neti pot or Nasaline, I would recommend using pickling salt. Nasaline sells very expensive salt...but pickling salt is the purest salt that you can buy and it is very cheap.

Also, if using a neti or Nasaline burns, you are either using too much or too little salt. If you follow the directions, you shouldn't have to worry about this.
