Sure you have a chance. Getting into medical school is part educational achievements and part luck. There are tons of qualified people who apply to medical school each year, many of which will not get in.

That said, dropping out of your first semester when you first started college is not going to stop you from going to medical school. When it comes time to apply to medical school for you and hopefully get an interview, you should be able to explain to them why you dropped out. Was it because you had family or personal problems? Was it beacuse you weren't ready for the challenges of college yet? Whatever it was, they will be more concerned about how you overcame that challenge. Even if you dropped out because you were failing all your classes from too much drinking, if you can show that since that time you have committed yourself to your education, to acheiving your goals, then that is what will really matter.

Do your research on what it takes to get into medical school. Make sure it's what you really want to do. If after you have examined all this and you still want to go, don't let anyone tell you you can't try!

if you want to go to yale med, you should focus on trying to get into a top university, then worry about medical school. so be validictorian, take a ton of Ap courses, play varsity sports, volunteer at the VA hospital, become class vice president, get stellar sat scores, be perfect.

If you are not getting any grief from you parents then go for it with a fairly clear conscience. It is part of what parents have always done in one way or another, setting their children up for success. The catch is that you will have to do this for your own kids. To further assuage your conscience you should consider how you can minimize the burder, i.e. asking for as little money as you can, having a p/t job, taking loans or whatever.
