The Language Of Medicine

Roberto Said:

How to write UCAS personal statement when applying for COMPLETELY different courses (Medicine and Languages)?

We Answered:

Focus on the subject you're applying to the most unis for (so if you're applying to 4 medicine, and 1 language, focus on the medicine side more) but talk about your love of the other subject, and what it's taught you that could help you with your first course, like maybe your languages has made you more confident, or improved your social skills, both of which could be important for a career in medicine.

It shouldn't affect your chances too much, medicine is used to people applying for a different course along side the medicine (seeing as they limit their places) but the language people might be a bit confused so do emphasise how much you love and are interested in languages (have you travelled a lot? talk about that) it is normally easier if you apply for related subjects such as medicine and biology though.

Also I don't mean to scare you but you do realise that after you click the pay/send button on your UCAS form it doesn't go straight to UCAS it has to go the admissions people at your school or college first who have to add their bits and send it on to UCAS and depending on what else this is doing it might take a few days, so I really wouldn't leave it till the 15th deadline to send it off if I was you (unless you check and are absolutely certain that someone is willing to drop everything else they are doing to process it for you)

Good luck

Any Apache Indians?

We Answered:

NA-IH-ES
"Sunrise Ceremony"
The web site appearss to describe the authenticity and difficulty of this ceremony.

NA-IH-ES", the Apache puberty rite popularly called the "Sunrise Ceremony", dramatizes this creation story and, in the process, the girl becomes Is dzán naadleeshe' with Changing Woman's power to heal the sick and restore goodness among N'dee.

"To be Is dzán naadleeshe' act like Is dzán naadleeshe'!" so selection of the abalone shell is just as important as selection of eagle feathers.

The only "set" for this ceremony is the Gowa'a, four poles lashed together . .

It is said that one morning Is dzán naadleeshe' sat cross-legged in front of her gowa'a, praying with arms outstretched to the sun, bending low to touch Mother Earth on the North side, then on the South side, a challenging movement not taught in aerobics classes!

Nicole Said:

What is the main language of medicine?

We Answered:

I can't believe I'm saying this, elitist pedant that I am, but you only need a relatively small amount of Latin and Greek to become familiar with most medical terminology. Neither language has been a requirement for entrance into medical school for over half a century. However, a knowledge of Latin and Greek is very helpful in understanding the inner workings of our English language. But it's far from essential.

Also, most of the important research is published in English, but significant contributions are made in the French, German, Spanish and Italian scientific literature, too, as well as in other languages. Given the great influx of Hispanics into the US, Spanish would be a useful choice for many.

Corey Said:

Are there any differences between the language of medicine the 6th edition and the 8th edition?

We Answered:

You did not mention the name of the book or the dates of each edition. The best that you can do is to read the forward of the authors and compare a number of pages side by side. You can also ask the instructor and the publisher.

Freddie Said:

Do you think all of the answers in the universe are made available to us when we die someday?

We Answered:

I have been reading up on near death experiences, and according to the majority, we will know everything once we die. In fact, there are accounts of people seeing the entire history of the universe since the beginning and even before (if you can imagine that). They say it is too abstract to explain in words, but fascinating and awe-inspiring. Many people who have had near death experiences come back with new discoveries for science, future visions that have come true or will, and a new appreciation for life and its meaning. This also gives signs that they did learn more knowledge when they died.

Also, look up on the akashic records. Supposedly, on the other side there is a library-like building that keeps records of every thought, action, and deed of every person. I have heard this from many sources. I'm not saying you should believe all this or that I do, but I am showing you that there are people who believe this to be true that we will learn all the answers, if we didn't, then gaining knowledge or learning anything now would look pretty pointless.
