Thyroid Medicine Side Effects
Sarah Said:
Could my extreme sweating be related to my thyroid medicine?We Answered:
Yes, sweating is a side effect of levothyroxine. Let your doctor know about this side effect as soon as possible. Please find a list of side effects below.Levothyroxine side effects
Stop using levothyroxine and get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects: headache; sleep problems (insomnia); nervous or irritable feeling; fever, hot flashes, sweating; changes in your menstrual periods; appetite changes, weight changes;
Less serious side effects may include mild hair loss.
This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect.
Brett Said:
What is thyroid deases? is there any side effects of medicines of thyroid?We Answered:
Hypothyroidism (An underactive thyroid)Treatment is to give Levothyroxine
Usually not. Levothyroxine tablets replace the body's natural hormone, so side-effects are uncommon. However, if you have angina, you may find that your angina pains become worse when you first start levothyroxine. Tell a doctor if this happens.
Hyperthryodisim (An overactive thyroid) Drugs used
Antithyroid drugs (Carbimazole (Neo-Mercazole) or Propylthiouracil)
Drug side effects: these are uncommon but include general skin rashes, itching, hair loss. There is a rare but important side effect which is due to a lowering of the blood count (white cell count). When this occurs you may become aware of a very sore throat or severe mouth ulceration. The majority of sore throats however are coincidental, and are due to a viral infection and have nothing to do with the tablets. If unsure stop the drug and contact your G.P.

Nausea is sometimes a side effect of Levothyroxine, but it's not the most common. The nausea might be related to something else, give it a day or two more to see for sure. She might want to contact her doctor to let them know what is going on.Karen Said:
Why does allergy medicine say consult a doctor before use if you have thyroid disease?We Answered:
The otc medications can affect your heart rate, blood pressure, etc things that are already being controlled by another medication. My doctor told me DO NOT take it, but I also had thyroid cancer. They did however prescribe me Singular. If you are having serious issues with your allergies i suggest you also speak to your doctor about an allergy prescriptionMaureen Said:
