Tropical Medicine Course

Why would someone want to study medicine in a tropical.....(cont'd)??We Answered:
The world is a very small place today. Viruses and bacteria can get around the world in a matter of hours due to air travel. We seriously need docs trained to recognize and treat such illnesses, even where they aren't considered to be common. There also needs to be ongoing research in the subject.

Only 10 weeks into uni but not sure whether to continue. Stay or quit?We Answered:
Parents can put a LOT of pressure on their kids, especially regarding major choices. Arguments like "Well we're paying your tuition!" come up a lot with people I know. But in all honesty, if you're miserable doing the work learning the information, you're going to be even MORE miserable when you're trying to make a living with it. Remember, you're going to use your major to find a job that you'll work 40 hours a week, 50-ish weeks of the year.Though you may love and respect your mother for trying to push you towards a field she thinks you'll succeed in, what matters is whether or not you're happy or satisfied. Since you're obviously not, why not try sitting down with your mother and really explain that you don't like the work? Having a degree in the world today is imperative if you want to live comfortably. Going back later is SO tough. So my advice to you is, while it is your choice, I would change your field of study to something you actually like, enjoy, and can see yourself pursuing a career in.
Even though I don't know what I'm going to do when I graduate with a Communication Studies degree, I love the classes, the material, and am having fun learning and applying the classroom to the real world. This is YOUR life....not your mom's. She has your best interest at heart, but she can't decide for you. :) Best of luck!

HELP! i think my tropical tank is infested with white spot!!?We Answered:
There is less oxygen in warmer water, and therefore yes, the parasites will die off quicker in warmer water. Keep in mind, quicker does not mean immediate. 30 Celcius for those fish is alright, but you should just follow what it says on the box, whether to do it once daily, twice a day, or every other day. Just follow the instructions on the box, it usually tells you about frequent water changes, etc. Sorry about your fish, and good luck!Scott Said:
which uni is better for studying health promotion, london school hygeine & tropical medicine or UCL?We Answered:
This is a good and common question - which uni is best? But it all depends, I have been to two, one with a really great reputation and one that is looked down upon. I found that the one that had a good reputation offered very little help and was quite difficult compared to the other which had the best teachers, the best help, doors were always open and it was there that I excelled. For taking your qualifications further I have also learned noone really cares where you did your degree only about the quality of the degree. Also liverpool uni is both a good uni and has a school of tropical medicine and is far cheaper than london too!

Which course must you do to be a registered nurse (out if this list)? We Answered:
That looks like a list of advanced degrees for specialty nursing. Your local Junior college should offer an Associate degree In Science with RN training. After graduating , take the state licensing exam to be licensed to work in your state. Then while working as an RN take any additional advanced training for any speciality you are interrested in. Many hospitals will help with tuition costs for advanced training.
